Seeing as people have been messaging me for some pics of Bairnsdale, I was down there yesterday and got all snap happy at the end of the day.
These pics are mainly of some of the tech sections/rock gardens but fear not, the track has plenty of fast flowy single track but pics of that would be pretty boring.
All up by the time the last few mods have been done there will be four major rock gardens, a few little rocky sections, tons of high speed single track, some loose off camber, two massive doubles, several switch back sections half way and near the bottom, lots of berms, a couple of big boulder sections and a few a/b line choices.
The track is race-able as is but will be awesome with a few more changes and taking out some pedally bits too.
Pics fixed up.
Have you got any photos of of Bairnsdale mums, if you havent any of the track.

Looking pretty good Mr Watkins.......................all thats missing now is a heap of bikes. Are the last 2 pics of the stepdown u talk of??
Will definately head out some time in the near future.
Nah, pics 5 and 6 (labeled "bottom rock garden") are the ones where the stepdown is. You can't really see the jump in the pics though.

Yeah the track is awesome fun. If you pin it at high speed and do all a lines you can really shit your pants in a few sections but if you just cruise its still really fun. If your a beginner there is b lines around the hard stuff and if you want tech lines theres tons of them.
Yeah wisey that step down in the bottom rock garden is actually alot easier when its dry. When me and Karl nearly killed ourselves on it we were sliding in the corner before hand and the mud was slow.
Yes rohan it took lots of work. Kenny, Derek, Kelvin and myself put in many hours, along with a hand full of others who helped here and there but there is still two sections to be built (massive double and new section of single track) and we will need a hand when we put them in.

there is a b line around it but that double is rad, no way its getting cut out. i do agree though that the landing needs widening. i didnt build it, but ill definately fix it. most people that have had trouble jumping it though have been jumping to the left and missing the landing. me kenny derek karl and some other crew have had no trouble over it.

im not saying cut it out but it definately does need attention, there was stray sticks poking out and it just didnt look right
hell you could make it bigger it wouldnt worry me i will still hit it if i can get a decent dh bike to ride/race
everything else ive seen looks good i cant wait to check it out in person and have ride

there may have been some sticks or what ever poking out of the side of the jump on the bottom side, but nothing on the down ramp itself.

The double we will build lower down the track after the bottom rock garden will be alot bigger than that jump and you will hit it doing about 60-70 k's an hour. A line take off ramp will be at least six feet high with a second take off ramp to the side of that but a bit closer and smaller for the less gravity inclined riders. More air time the better though me says.

3 of us went out today to have a bit of a clean up etc
we made the 'cabbage gap' a bit better and and cut a new section in near the top to go around an old washed out straight.
we will be organising another working bee in the coming weeks so hopefully we can cut a big new section in to rid some of the pedalling that plagues the mid section
the photos dont do the gap justice it at all
