There will be some new freeride bikes. Prob released around jan/feb

1 being the Glory 8 and the other being a reign x.......

No word on a comp level glory as yet, despite what a good idea I think it would be.

yer im pretty sure that the glorys are giants new dh bike for 07
i think 1 of the main reasons is some of the problems with the comps
linkages messing up and the rear shock needing rebuilding

well i doubt the fact that the maestro linkage is superior to the single pivot DH comps of old has nothing to do with it ... seeing as linkages can be tightened and the shocks werent even an issue to start with.

DH comps are just getting old, that's why they've ditched them for the new fangled maestro suspension platform, which is exactly the same reasoning for ditching the AC, as well as the NRS, and every other old suspension design that has ever been dropped for a newer one.

if ac means all conditions then that bike will be the reign X

Who did you hear that off? They scrapped the AC.

When they had it, it was meant as a entry level all-mountain/"freeride" bike. I can't see them putting any more money into making a new one, especially when they have all the new maestro bikes coming out.

Glory DH spec
Glory 8 (replace faith)
Reign x
etc.

AC = fine when it is used what it is designed for.

Its not a downhill bike, its not a hucking machine.

It's a all mountain bike, and when its used for that, they tend to work fine for the price.

There was never really any huge issue with DH comp/team linkages, people just didn't maintain them. A bit of blue locktite went really well but other than that it's just normal wear and tear. I've had a comp and a now a team and both are running sweet.

In regards to the shocks, yes, there were problems with the remote resevoir Manitou 6 way. This isn't Giant's fault, it's Manitou's issue. Unfortunately of course they're fitted to a Giant bike so they get brandished with the ugly stick. It's not that they're useless or anything, it just takes some time to get them to hold their settings etc without leaking. Once they're good, they stay good. The older piggy back style shocks are much more reliable in general. Ah well, you can't win em all. Atleast you can still fit the older shock back in there if you like, just can't adjust it as easily, but that's no big deal.

Anyway, to my point, they're not replacing the DH Comp/Team because of mechanical issues per se, it's beacuse of the new Maestro linkage system. It's a superior linkage system (in it's mechanical interaction point of view) hence they'll run with it. The cost to produce will be the same, it's just different bits of metal fashioned in a different manner.

The Glory is bloody cheap for what you get anyway, a Glory 8 as mentioned as well as the Reign X should be kick ass.

i agree with you there futant
i had a dh comp for 2 years. with proper maintenance my linkages never played up ever.i used the blue 243 loctite.plus my swinger shock was always sweet.

and the price i payed for the whole bike was icing on the cake.bang for the buck giant dh bikes are hard to beat.

so much so i've got a new 07 glory now.more than happy with it.

it only takes a little bit of maintenance to keep dh bikes going sweet.they are race bikes and needed to be treated as such.

while im next in line stop you bloody whining. haha. i feel like an old man

that being said my dh comp that i have been running is still an awsome frame and linkage set up, i havent had any problems at all with the rear shock either. the whole bike has amazed me. it ran really sweet on all the trails i rode and i am thinking bout keeping it and rebuilding it just because of how nice it was to ride. i havent had the chance of testing the new maestro designs yet but i can see the mechanical viewpoint for the advance. if you goto the american site on www.giantbicycles.com you can see the freeride glory. i rekon it looks absolutely awsome. unlike the new demo's that are out :'(

dude arnt you new to the hobby? I dont know what you are thinking but Giant can preduce a bloody good bike for the price. Think of the connondale judge, its around $9000 and the spec is pritty close to the Giant glory which i $5400.

fuck off
giant proberly make the best value for money bikes around, ans just because there cheap does not mean they suck.
the glory (actually the whole range of maestro designed bikes) for example proberly has one of the best suspension designs on the market at the moment, but for half the price of the more exotic brands.

total agreement with you. if they had made a heavier freeride bike in 06 i would have stayed with them!
