I went to Cables WaterSki Park on the weekend (yeah with real cables that pull you around a big lake) and it Farkin rocked my socks.

I did the kneeboarding thing and got that down pat, (tried nailing the jump but couldnt quite land it) then i stepped up to a WOODEN wakeboard with straps not bindings and let her rip. This was my 1st time EVER on a wakeboard and I fucking did it, Lauched with a bit of style if i do say so myself hahah and made my way down the straight, got to the first corner and BAM. Needless to say i didnt manage to get around that corner on my next few tries either.

Anyways as you may have guessed I WANT A WAKEBOARD!!!!! I have no idea on what to get and am only looking 2nd hand..... Whos got one and what should i look for?

Nuh Fuzzy sling shot was like 25 bucks per person.

I had a two for one pass so 2 hours of water skiing for 18 bucks was well worth the cash.

Nuh I didnt really like the straps on the wooden one, they were way to big i could move my foot a good half inch around in them. They had proper decks there but they were like 12 bucks extra, (I was a bit broke this weekend).

Oh i should of added can youse give me a rough price range of the boards youve got? cheers

I'm not into it myself, but I have a couple of mates who are and I know the gear generally isn't what you would call "cheap"; but like everything there are cheaper products. Then again I've only ever done it once, and that didn't last too long as me and my big hoofs managed to bust a binding....

skim boards were (are?) the bomb? I made one in woodwork when i was at school, kept hidden in the rocks at tama, so whenever the surf was crappy just play on the skimmer. Got nailed a few times though, losing balance & what not

wakeboards can cost n e where between 200-800 and even more for the pro ones. my wakeboard cost 500 but i had to pay a little extra for bigger bindings because of my size 13 foot. also depends if u wanna go 2nd hand or new. personally i think that a good/cond 2nd hand one is the way to go for your first board..

p.s you should try kneeboarding its ultracore mad

you might also need to consider the whole boat thing as well!

I have a Hyperlite Twin honeycomb, super nice board IMO but not quite what a begginer should be buying.
The bigger they are the more stable. Keep that in mind.

Yet another toy i can no longer use..........

Bigger boards have more spin weight that slows you down when you start tricks, for cable get something on the narrower side as it will cut a bit harder and you don't need the width for pop off the wake.
Go Liquid Force boards, I've used them for the last 5 years and never a problem.
