I'm not too sure on why the juicy's are from the 06 range. I am guessing that the 07 ones were not going to be ready for production in time. It seems alot goes into building one of these bikes from the looks of things.

Nah mate, not in canberra anymore in brisbane now. It truely is a machine and i love the loom of it and always will no matter what others say. it is a beast! When are you getting yours Mattvincent? and where from. I know Fortheriders.com have one in at the moment so if you need one now, they can probably organise a pretty god discount i reckon.

yer, got her for a very good price, lets just say that. 7G is their recommended retail price. I wont be riding it for a while, ive got exams the next two weeks which is a little dissapointing.
The seat tower is heat treated Carbon Fibre. it looks and feels super strong and tough. Mattvincent, good to hear man, least you'll get one for pretty cheap.
I honestly love the look of the bike, the whole frame design is actually beautifully designed and crafted. It may look wierd on first inspection, but man, this thing is sexy. it rides just like a heavy hardtail up hills and corners on flat, well on the dirt patch out the back, very well.
Thanks smito for the inspiration mate, loving your work.
You know it
not a fan of those bikes. i can see that shock housing being the biggest sh*t catcher of all time

yep very noice, but wouldn't you prefer fox 40 rc2's, or marzocchi 888's, or manitou ti intrinsic's, or the 2007 rst sigma's, or if you had the moolah to go for the foes f1 xtd curnett fork.
sorry just my opinion i think the boxxers are over rated, plus the fact that of recent months there have been a few that have snapped lowers or seals being blown left & right.
have fun thrashing it though.:)

no, i was being serious. sorry if it offends you but i do believe that marzocchi & fox are better than boxxers at the moment. just because the boxxers are light doesn't mean shite to me, i like the look of things that actually look strong. i prefer strong over weight to a certain degree.

Pfft, you're kidding yourself, the difference between all of those forks is so inconsequential its not even worth debating, despite that fact even if there is a difference, weather its better or worse is even less consequential!
All forks break mate, even if they "look" strong...
Nice bike dude;) Im sure the Boxxers will do it justice.

FOX 40's lowers it's known fact that thay crack lowers
Marzocchi I was once a fan but now I am found with rock Shox so much better the feel the weight just so much better i run pike 426's on my 4x bike an world cups on my dh bike no problems.
An for the comment about them being over rated i don’t think so if there so crap why do riders such as Brad Kelly, Smito, Cody, Ricky Boyer run these forks.
That’s just my say every one is entitled to there on opinion you get what you pay for a rock Shox have it covered.
blah blah blah, like i said my opinion not yours not anyone elses but all mine.
So keep it to yourself!:p

i believe that the gt would look just as good with any other fork on it aswell. i know we all have our own preferences on what we want to run on our own bikes. i'm just saying that someone with the same bike may prefer different to boxxers. sam hill could have signed with fox or marzocchi but he chose rock shox, he may have tried other forks & like these better because it suits his riding, i don't know. all i'm really saying is you don't have to run the same gear as what the pro's do on their specced bikes.
i might own a glory with fox 40 rc2's own it but i'm certainly dressing in my own style of clothes, i certainly am not going to dress like rando though. maybe i might change to boxxers one day ( when they become 40mm stanchions, probably never though, lol ) but at the moment they just don't suit me.
i am happy that you are pleased to bag me out regarding this, but we are all mtbiker's here & we all have our own preferences to what we use on our dh rigs. :)
have fun bagging me some more if you will.
peace out;)

this is a post your ride thread, not a debate and who likes what forks. :)
world cups....40's...888's...they all suck in the end:rolleyes:

haha, thats classic. Im not bagging you out mate. ( I always seem to start fights on here that I totally didnt mean to...) I have my own preference in fork, I too like the way certain forks feel. Just to say that to choose one fork over another (we are talking about 888's, 40's and Boxxers) because of their strength is pretty unfair on yourself, as they are all tough as nuts and all the photos you have seen of broken boxxers etc are from people casing jumps at speed or some other unforeseen accident... You should choose the fork that feels the best for you.
Also, dont assume that "Sam Hill" or however gets to pick and choose what they ride, i mean they do to a certain extent but just because they might like then feel of one particular fork, doesnt necessarily mean that they will get paid to ride them;)
If I was trying to bag you, I would have called you names:p
Anyway, back ON topic...

Nice bike.
I love my '05 DHi.
Hope you enjoy your '07.
Must say I like the look of Bryn's blue one more than the white but colour won't change how it rides!
Congrats Boyles on a great looking rig.
Definately looks the business.
One question though, how come quick release rear ? Would you not be better off going for a bolt up ? Just a question.
Cheers,
Landon

It's a nice 12mm Maxle. Rather trick if you ask me! :)
Id love to see how light you could get one of those. Sweet ride mate...

Well to answer the question about the Maxle QR axle, that is a little new invension thing that is probably one of the coolest things i have ever seen on a bike. Took me 12 seconds to get the rear wheel off...
And as for the weight, when Mr Smithson was up in brisbane, we weighed his on the scales, amazingly it weighed in at only 18KG stock.
I am yet to put a Ti spring on it, which should get it a little bit lighter. I could change the rims, to mavics and that would save a few pound, but in the end, i aint no weight weenie so i dont really care.
Thanks to smito for being my inspiration for the buying the bike, i think we are the only two people in the country with the same bikes! (Except for bryn)
I'll let you all know how it rides in hmmm lets see another FRICKEN two weeks..... fucking exams!

Mavic 823 tubeless rims, Maxxxis tubeless tyres. E-13 LG1, could be a maybe, but you could easily get that big rig down to low 16's

Nice! Love GT's, I am hopefully getting mine when I get back fromTassie so i cant wait!
At the shop I work for here in SA, our medium weighed in at 17.8 kg's with Shimano DX flats, so they are extremely light for a stock bike!
Pity about exams but I have mine at the moment as well! Let us know how it rides.
