My weapon of choice is Apple I-Movie 2 (3 has more bugs than a...well... than a place with lots of bugs). I find it more than adequate for most stuff but it is lacking in the sound, titles and effects categories. So I export and re-import to Premiere for some of the more technical stuff, better titles and sound editing.
It seems like the long way (why not just use premiere to start with) but I-Movie is the easiest and best to use for the actual splicing, etc.
This is of course if you have access to an Apple.
If not... Premiere all the way.

if I had a choice i'd do a dilsnik and chop and change between I-Movie 2 and Premiere 6. but i dont have I-Movie so I'm using Premiere 6. Only problem I have atm is when i import songs it's real fuzzy even uncompressed, hence the lack of videos being made.

I use windows movie maker 2, you can get good effects and it is simple to use, very simple. very straight forward and does a good job with compression too.

Keep it simple stupid? :P

I use MGI Videowave III. As i said yesterday, the files are large, but the quality is really good and it is simple to use. I'm sure I'll be able to compress them somewhat.

yeah i'm pretty sure that it is... hence my lack of ability to use it these days... dammit... i'd love an i-mac just for video-editing!!! i'd do so much more of it!!
