Ive ridden the new s1 proto ner ner ner ner!
One of the u19s here in SA was riding it at the State Champs, so i took it for a lil spin. Nice changes and lighter too. Its slacker in the head and feels more DH suited.
However that S1 mate is sex on wheels and you should ride it for years to come n not break the damn thing!!! tough
shes a great ride getting a new rim mtx or mag 30 or something for the front due to collision with tree at a race here at tolosa
Looking very nice. Have a sqwiz at mine in my sig...
I'll share a few suggestions for you from my experiences with my S1:
1. Sounds like it's already too late, but tighten all the spokes on the WTB wheels, mine were loose as when I got the bike.
2. They chew up swingers! Drop a PM to Marcus (mani2) & he'll tell you the same. After a bunch of rebuilds, i ended up switching to a spare Fox RC that I had lying around. In the proccess I had to change shock hardware from 12mm to 12.7mm (or the other way round, I can't remember). While doing this I upgraded the mount on the main-frame end as per the drawing attached. I have a feeling that if I did this in the first place, the shock problems would have disappeared.
I made the green bush out of some 304 S/S round bar, And the light blue spacers out of some black poly tube, have had no probs with this setup.
This setup is much stonger than standard, the bolt kept bending with the standard setup & I think that could have been the cause of all the shock problems.
They seem a good strong frame, I've crashed mine pretty hard a few times - into tree's etc. No signs of twisting, bending or cracking, gonna be selling mine soon though :( (new bike :D )

VERY VERY NICE, how does it ride, i was thinking of getting me one of those frames. would you have to run the manipoo in it, because if i get one it would NEED a fifth element for sure.

Why the HELL would you get a Fifth Element over a Manitou?
Thats a nice bike, an S1 was one of the first DH bikes I ever saw. Back when I was about to spend 1000 on a dually, thinking that would get me an awsome bike. Boy did I learn alot after looking around... but yeah, used to be my favourite downhill bike. I LOVE the orange colour of them!

and youd know? my manitou is/has been fine for as long as ive been riding it, never had any troubles with it. are you basing that on personal experiences(doubt it) or some random shit youve read on the net?
