Sydney Uni Bike Challenge

This sunday will be the first of many checkpoint challenges around sydney uni.

Bikesoc has organised the event and will involve racing from checkpoint to checkpoint. The challenge is for any type of bike and the route is where ever you want it to go as long as you pass through the checkpoints.

This is our first one so we don't know how well its going to be run, but it should be a lot of fun.

I will post more info up later including the start location and a google earth pic of the checkpoints.

This sounds really good, but i cant believe the uni is allowing it.. is it actually through the uni or around it?

Is this Sydney Uni students only? Man, this kinda format would be great at UNSW with all the steps, ramps etc. Would be like Red Bull Rampage at UNSW!!!

It's hangover friendly - later in the afternoon.

As for the uni allowing it, well, it's just a group of people going for a ride through the grounds. As long as it isn't an organised 'race' (which it isn't), I don't see the problem. Of course it would be nice if it were a 'race', but that just brings in a whole heap of legal shenanigans, which no one could be farked dealing with.

This is the first, so the whole thing'll probably need a little fine-tuning, but hopefully it'll be fun, with plenty of different options between checkpoints for whatever type of rider you are.

Okay, so this is taken from the bikesoc club email, but everyone is welcome,

Here's the last bits of information that I can divulge before the event:> >

Basically, the event will run as follows.> Everyone meets at the bike racks opposite Manning House before 4pm, for a> (hopefully) 4:10pm start. At the start we tell you where the first> checkpoint will be, and you find your own way there. At each checkpoint> there will be a stamp (which is your reward for getting there, whack it on> your arm, or be a little creative, it's up to you), and there will also be> a card which tells you which checkpoint you are currently at, and where you> need to go next. There will be a photo of the next location on the card as> well.

So you keep on going through all the checkpoints until you get to> the end, which will be back at Manning, for a well deserved drink, over> which you can spin a few tales about the incredible routes you took and> brag about the size of your big chain ring....

So basically just meet outside manning at 4pm
