I hope Cohen gets sued to the point where he can never appear on any kind of screen ever again. There is nothing amusing about this guy. He is purely offensive.
That is just completley unbelieveable. The perfect justice, along with him paying a large sum of money to said village, would be to make the fucker live there for a set period of time. I'm thinking somewhere around a year. Make him live the way they do and then see how fucken funny he thinks it is.
Yeah, my houseamte and I was just discussing it and both of us reckon its an extremely low act using them like that. He should spend a shitload of money giving something back to the village, like running water.
On the other hand I don't feel sorry at all for those 2 american college kids who are going to sue him for making them look stupid.
Did anyone hear him on jjj yesterday morning, I was expecting it to be fairly amusing, instead it just sounded badly rehearsed, recycling the lines he'd used at the news conference. When I first heard he was going to make a film, I was looking forward to it, now I don't think I'll bother going to the cinema, if I get around to it I might download it.

im calling bullshit.
im calling that a reporter or two went and found this town and turned them all against what they had been in and than published this story.
fair enough they probably were not looked after that well but to this extent i highly doubt it and this story is stupidly over the top.

Ill agree with bazza, it sounds too concoted, and it is from "the mail'.
Did anyone notice that at the end of the article it desribes the villagers chasing camera crews out with farm tools? that sounds BS too, as it is in exact keeping with the way baron portrays them in the film.

bazzas view is worth looking into
but aside from that SO WHAT?
basically you are outraged by:-
"comedien makes fun of people"
anyone seen League of Gentelmen? funniest program for years, highlighting locals as inbreds, frustrated lesbians, freaks, etc
what humor or joke doesn't have a victim?
if you want to complain about comedy then
what about that talentless fat prick Kyle and the useless Jackie O? making prank calls, how lame is that? how god damn origonal
or will anderson, laughing at his own jokes and don't get me started on The Glass House, should have been called the Shite House!!!

Good point, i think political correctness has got int eh way of a lot of things, however i think baron could possibly do more for the communtiy that he owes so much to. Lets face it hes profiting from them so he can give a lil more back to the community.

Please tell me if I am missing something here, but if the villages didn't like how they were been portrayed, then why did they let the crew keep filming them?
Surely they would have known during filming what it was going to be like.

That article is probably just another PR prank pulled by Cohen's very slick PR team. You'll note that there's a link to the trailer in the story. Just another way of advertising and it gets people <points fingers at the above> talking about the film. Any publicity is good publicity in entertainment.

You'd think a jew would know better than to exploit other ethnic minorities.
I'm not too concerned about the villagers feelings, but Sacha should of spent less on bodyguards etc and more on the locals he was making fun of.
I can't believe that anyone would take a comedy so seriously. When Team America bags the crap out of the american government and various very specific people, everyone finds it funny. Do the same thing to impoverished peasants in such an over-the-top way that it's incredibly obvious that it CAN'T be true, and OMG LET'S SUE. Not to absolve SBC of any wrongdoing whatsoever (paying people a pittance just because they're already poor is pretty low IMO, especially when you've got a full scale movie budge behind you) but jeeeeeeesus... got overreaction?

If it's a feeling Glod is used to, then why are they kicking up a stink about it?
PINT of Stella, mate!

It's an article from The Daily Mail.
A sensationalist rag with an editorial slant so right-wing intolerant middle britain, it makes Sydney's Telegraph and Melbourne's Herald Sun look like The Big Issue.
I wouldn't wipe my arse with it!

hahah tell me about it "They were nice and friendly, but we could not understand a single word they were saying." ... and yet all of our quotes translate into such perfect english.
There is no way cohen would be stupid enough to try and release a movie world wide based on that sort of exploitation, there is no way you could keep it a secret. I wouldnt be surprised at all if The Mail have been had.

Exploitation hits a new media low.
I was in agreement with the second half of this thread when I posted.
Although, It would be a very interesting argument, in or out of the media spotllight if the residents were not paid actors, and were exploited rather than informed about their roles, and did decide to go through and Sue that Jew

'Exploitation' would imply that the people of the village actually lost something. In this movies case, i would say they didnt loose that much - their ego's may be a little dented, but if your representing the truth in a comical manner, i dont really see a problem.
Having said that though, it would have been nice to see some money put back into this community - how much did it gross in the first week? $27,000,000 pounds - Fark me!
