i've still got a bit of time but i'll need to organise my holidays around these events next year so any info would be greatly appreciated

Tossing up whether to move it to the old riffle range track just to give State Mine a rest or cut in a new top section just for a change..

Pacific Park will be a all new track, and we will make sure that it is a ripper.

a well run in track at pacific park would be a nice change. both times i've been there to race they were on new tracks that looked like they'd just been marked out the day before. the ground was still all covered in grass.
i know its getting harder and harder to run these events as not many places can handle the numbers DH is starting to attract, like the state mine track at lithgow (no offence The Cat, that track rules but if one person crashes there it takes half the day to get them off the track).
i've never seen the rifle range track but if it's a cure for that type of situation it will definatly be worth a go.

Is that the "Thunders" track cat?

That old 'rifle range' was such a great fun track with Big and Little thunderetc.
The track was fast and we need more of those fast and furious tracks... The only 'bad' bit was the little uphill pedal near the bottom and the fragile 'butterflies' or whatever the greenies were worried about...
The transport was the best there was...ah those big full on coaches....
The Oceaniania's creates very fond memories Cat....
Go it

Yeah, the track with the thunders,

short vid of the top section down to the bottom of bumble bee hollow (just up from little thunder) here
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4351354214762835507

but if we take out big thunder we can get rid of the up hill pedal....

Doesn't help the track access for emergencies as it too runs down a gully with no road access, or separate spectator track for that matter, between top and bottom.

I'll need to talk to a few people to see if it's still posible to run an event there and way up the pros and cons...

The track also gets a run in the Night of the living chain guides found

Yeh i dont think changing the top section at lithgow will be a good option..

I beleive its been tried a few times?? not sure..

Why not try to fix the rifle range track sooner than later??

Instead of leaving it to the last minute why not get the track fixed up now??

And have some clubbies and things on it to see how it goes early next year.

It would take a lot of work as the corners are all rutted out and the track is overgrown.

My only two query's-

1) There will be a lot of upset people that the track has changed..
and

2)The state mine track is known and favoured because of it's features such as the rock garden and generation gap.
What will this new track have??

You got a rake and a shovel don't you :D

I haven't even had time to get up and take the bunting down from the Nationals yet

It wasn't too bad last time I rode it.

Only ever allowed to use it a couple of times a year (part of the reason we developed the State Mine) and have to work in with the gun clubs schedule.

Thats the beauty of new stuff isn't it??? Keeps the riding fresh and all that
The old start will remain. Me and skinny have 2 ideas for alternate starts, they have never been tried before so I don't know what you are talking about there.
