there is some nice down hill in Warendyte and further up is Hurstbridge DH track which is sick. Then you have got the Mount Dany track.

What do you mean we have some sweet tracks up in warrandyte. Noodle is the best. Why go anywhere else when you have right on our doorstep.

Have any of you ridden the Blue Lake track just near the end of the Metro Ring Road?

It's listed here:

I have ridden out there several times, nice little spot to ride. Is more XC singletrack than anything else but if you know where to look there are some small to medium sized jumps and a few 6 - 10 ft cliff drops plus some mild DH.

It's definately worth the trip out there. You enter via a court underneath the Greensborough Bypass.

Thanks for that - we're checking it out tomorrow morning. We were after something XC anyway so that's cool. We'll probably scope out some of the other stuff out that way as time goes on as we've only just moved out to Heidelberg.

I went and scoped it out on foot with my wife the other day - we followed the instructions in that link and started it from the end of Kariboo Gv - where does it link up with the part you're talking about?

I am just talking about Kariboo Grv as thats the entry.

About 200m down the first single track there is a fun little spot to ride tucked away in the bush on the RHS as the track comes to a clearing ( before the fire road ), you need to look into the bush to find it as it's hidden.
At the top of the fireroad on the left there is a quarry with a few drops and roll ins, again you need to follow your nose to find it but it aint hard.
If you follow those directions in that link you will end up at Blue Lake, as I have said there is some nice techy single track out there, be a little careful when riding across the cliff top as I watched a mate high side down it a couple of weeks ago, he was lucky a tree halted his progress 10m down the cliff but his bike probably ended up 60m down. A bit scary, not a good track for a beginer. At the end of the cliff track there is another little quarry that's fun to muck around in as well.

You can't really get lost out there so just keep exploring and you will come across bits and pieces. Oh, I just looked at the link, it aint 15km to the lake, more like 5km. We have tried to keep going past the lake but have found it hard to link anything up. Check out this link to the VicMTB site, it has a much better description of the whole ride.

Excellent - that's heaps of information. Thanks very much for all your tips. We'll probably have about 3 hours to explore so we should see Plenty of stuff.
