Hi all. I was wondering whether it is worth buying big and getting a set of boxxer world cups or just buying boxxer teams. I'm most concerned about the longevity of the world cups in regards to blowing the seals and servicing costs in comparison to the reasonably simple spring loaded teams, bearing in mind that I weight a portly 90 kilos on a good day. Any help on the subject would be appreciated.

I've heard that world cups have to be serviced a lot, but I don't own a pair so don't quote me on that.

Rockshox recommends that the air cartridge in the world cups is cleaned twice as often as the spring in the Teams, otherwise they're the same in terms of maintenance. I'd choose the World Cups, from experience they're a lot easier to tune, a fair bit lighter and they work really well. Its not that the Team's are bad, its just that the air spring improves the forks even more.

Yeah, you heard wrong.
Keeping the air spring in check simply involves taking off the topcap and dropping in 3-5ml of oil every few months. I usually empty the old stuff first so as to not clog things up.
Apart from re-lubing, the whole setup just runs on a couple o-rings, so it's neither difficult nor expensive to replace them once a year or so - whether preventatively or if they wear out.
In return you get a fork that's 315g lighter, and easier to tune
