me and the kids went out to a local spot and took this cheap ass camera that i got off ebay. cost about $350, is a CCD and is light enough that all we had to do was masking tape it to the helmet!

best thing is you can tape it to anyones helmet with no need for wires, batteries, extra carry bags etc.

its not too bad.

Wish that kid would tuck his shirt in...

Came out looking ok for such a bodgy job. reckon the full resolution version would be ace.

Taking the rear view was a great idea. Probably needs a wide angle lens to benefit from the distance between riders at corners, but i enjoyed it.

It'd be cool if you had two riders with helmet cams: the front rider filming the rear view, whilst the rear rider filming the front view. Then edit the footage with split screen viewing. How cool would that be?

i'll keep dreaming of owning my own helmet cam....

I look forward to more footage.

not a bad effort mate. you really do get the sense of speed and energy, just a shame you can't keep your mate behind you in shot more often (probably a lot to do with the very fun looking trail ;) ) .

perhaps check out the helmet cam vids (forward and rear facing) found at the link below for some guidance. these are some of the better ones i've seen online:
http://www.mtbbritain.co.uk/helmet_camera_video.html

also love the idea of both riders having cams front and back - would make for some cool editing options.

Nice vid mate. I'm not sure if the track makers of Dayboro will really like it too much though! From that vid I've worked out where it is. Not that that is a big concern, (I'd seen it there already) I'm happy to do maintenance and the other mate I ride with lives in the local area (Mt Mee).

Cheers

Dude, just watching that again - we need to source some kind of wide angle thing like these guys said. Should make it wasier to keep in frame on twisty tracks. Also, put some music on these vids so people can't hear me panting like an asthmatic in a peep booth.

It's had bigger publicity on this website through other things.

Looking good, needs music, panting is insane...

It is only called dayboro because it is near there. It is not really at dayboro...I shall say no more.

hey guys thanks for the feedback - but im not about to waste time editing anymore, takes so much time... this was just a peek at what we can do... toodles, its the deer gut!

i think the problem with losing the rider occasionally wasnt a huge one, considering the setup simplicity and cost id have been happy with 10% coverage. a few more angle tweaks and i think ill settle for that. it was setup a little too much to toodles right (carrier) so it missed me (rider) on the left hand corners.

futant, im not sure it really matters, i know you were only mentioning it but i dont see a problem with putting up clips of a local track. dont take this the wrong way, but i think you might be nit picking. imo.

anyway cheers for the comments.

No dramas, I just wasn't sure how anal the whole Brisvegas DH scene is at the moment. Seems far more *secret* than down here in Syd, or maybe I just take the tracks I ride for granted?? Meh. It's all good.
