bout farkin time they caught one of those sons of bitches.
Good news for all.
But i still don't know how they couldn't find him through out all those raids earlier this year, and now they just happen to come accross him?!
DNA tests have come up with a match.
yeah, i just heard this on tv. i guess time will tell though!

Rip tha system! Beleive nothing! etc etc.
Meh, ch10 has Cold Chisel Ringside, I found that more interesting.

Because he's been living in a hole? Or multiple holes?

DNA tests? I thought you needed some pretty high tech equipment to do those, not to mention a verified sample obtained previously to make the comparison. All that in within a couple of hours in war torn Iraq. Wow, those Yanks can do anything.
with all the money and resources the americans have, i would be supprised if they didn't have all that high tech equipment.
Well how much did the press centre cost to build? $10mil or something like that, wasn't it? Look at the amount of money they're putting in to it, it wouldn't suprise me if they had a friggin cloning facility there

finally the movie on channel 7 is back on.
If it's true, good on them...I never believed they would ever catch him, let alone Bin Laden (I still doubt they'll ever catch B.L.)
So now all they've gotta do is catch some Weapons of Mass Destruction and they'll be able to justify the whole violation of international law, invasion/occupation of 2 sovereign nations and the slaughter of 10,000+ Iraqi/Afghani civilians in the 'War on Terror' since 9/11 (in which ~3,500 civilians died) as well as the impostion of democracy (now there's an oxymoron) on 2 sovereign nations.
Ain't it cool to be the 'good guys'. At least we won the body count

i was officialy listed as "an agent of terror" for about 2 weeks 19 months ago. i mentioned in an online chat room that bush was the perfect candidate for retro-active abortion, preferably 9mm. one of the admins forwarded the section to the US feds, and because i was a foreign national making threats against the president they started a file. was funny as hell. i found out about it because one of the mods on the board is an old girlfreind of mine who i still get on with really well, and she was contacted to collect background on me. she checked with me first, then told them my full military background, the fact that i do/did work for greenpeace, and added that she thought i was unstable and prone to violence. between us we ended up with the australian feds at my door, and the FBI at hers :)
don't think they have much of a sense of humour.
we thought it was pretty funny tho.
and as for finding him right now, it was either synchronicity, or they have something REALLY bad that they don't want people to find out about, and decided that now was the time to catch him. there was a story on CNN a cpl of months ago that the US intel guys knew where he was, but were saving catching him until they really needed to. so i wonder what they did that they don't want us knowing about.
Maybe they were saving him for a rainy day, if you get my drift... leaving capture until it was necessary to gain public support again.
toodles

dosen't this mean that you will have heaps of trouble travelling now, esspecially if you wanted to head over to the US to say g'day mate to Mr Bush.
i'm sure i heard a story about a guy who made a prank bomb threat somewhere in aus and now is listed as a terrorist suspect, and he's not allowed to leave the country.

All this "terror" shit annoys me. I KNOW that they killed many people, but why is it that when a western country looses a couple hundered people, we jump up and down about it and want the offenders dead. Yet thousands of people die everyday in the eastern countries and we all accept it? How many of the terroists people were killed by America without us knowing? WHY would anyone want to start a war with one of the most egotisitc and homicidal countries in the world? Revenge for wrongs might be one. Tell me if you think what i'm saying is shit, but i really hate the fact that we all have to feel sorry for America, when she has been doing wrong for soooo long and gotten away with it. I think the only reason ANY of this happened was NOT due to the collateral damage, it was becuase someone dared to attack "what they consider" the worlds most secure and powerful country. pfft.... this shit pisses me off.

OK, so they caught him. What are they going to charge him with? Or is that totally irrelevant now days. At last count they have found 0.00 weapons of mass destruction which was the whole reason for going to war. They have proved 0.00 link between iraq and WTC/pentagon bombings.
Maybe they can charge him with not selling oil cheap enough to the Americans??

I am pretty sure people do not "scoff" at the wars of the past. Lest we forget is a pledge for us to remember those who died while fighting in them. It could also be taken as a reminder for those of us too young to have anything to do with those wars that war is stupid and costs thousands of innocent lives. Just ask all the vets who were at the anti iraq war rallys across australia.
I am glad Saddam has been caught. He was, is, a bad person. But USA could have acheived the same result a lot quicker & with a lot less civilian & military casualties than to begin a non sanctioned war, much less one that hasn't had its purposes proven.
It seems to smell a little funny that saddam was caught, withhout gunfire, in the beginning of the USA presidential election period. But that is just me

Wow, now THERE'S a great way to end the dispute. I'm sure they wouldn't retaliate to that, they'd sit there and go "Yep, that's fair, we killed 3000 of them, they killed 3000 of us, so we're even and we can go back to being friends". Right.

"Non-sanctioned war" is an oxymoron in itself. How often do both sides sit there and go "Yeah how about next week you invade me, then I'll bomb your cities, then we'll fight at the border for a month or so, then blah blah etc"?

These days, in order for a country to go to war, especially if it is a 'coalition' of countries they have to put their case for wanting to go to war to the United Nations. USA & coalition of willing did do that, but the reasons for startin a war against Iraq were deemed not worthy enough by the UN. America went to war anyway, there fore it was not sanctioned by the UN, therefore broke international law.
there have been accounts where opposing sides have discussed the 'rules of war' the one you are most likely to have heard of is gallipoli, as well as other battle fields in WWI where fighting would stop at a predetermined time that was organised by leaders of opposing sides, so people could collect the dead & dying from the battlefield without the fear of being shot.
Ya, but I betcha the Iraqis didn't want the war, so even if the UN had approved it, the people who it REALLY mattered to still had no choice. Which seems to me to be slightly ridiculous.
the whole iraq war IS very ridiculous, not just slightly

wasnt the reason they invaded so they could stop WMD's?
that seemed to fizzle out pretty quick once george bush worked out that americans are stupid enough to beleive any crap he might clear out of his throat
theres no stopping the shootin in iraq untill either the entire population is dead or they all bow down and salute america as their god
america just pisses me off  not time to elaborate now...
Yeah, in some ways it is, in others not really. I'm not really into politics tho.
wasnt the reason they invaded so they could stop WMD's?
No. That was the justification. The reason was obviously something else entirely.
If you really want to know how fucked up US foreign policy is, read up on the russian invasion of Afghanistan and the circumstances leading up to the formation and funding of the Taliban. Then move onto the installation of a 'friendly' shar in Iran which ultimately lead to the Iran/Iraq war and mr Hussein morphing from one of the truly enlightened leaders of the Arab world into a US pawn...

If you hadn't noticed the most countries governments', pretty much control the media, if they dont then they are pretty well tied into it through "aquaintances"(sp), basicly we only get told what someone else wants us to believe.
Saddam may well have been caught, or the USA may be knocking on his front door right now, or they have no clue where he is and trying to create a false sence of security (for him)...Who Knows! That's pretty simplistic mate, although our involvement in this war might have been quite minor, what the US did will have major repecussions. They have proven that they will act against the wishes of the UN and their allies, and this is not cool. The UN is one of the few organizations which is given true respect by most, and does a pretty good job of keeping the peace amongst it's member states, sure, there's always those countries who aren't going to comply, but up until now none of them have been major powers.
(reading back on this it isn't really making a lot of sense, sorry I'll try and wrap it up).
The US has the US's intrests and only the US's interests at heart, at least the UN took real input from a lot more countries, and worked for what was going to be a good solution for the majority. Argh, I'm tired and I'm gonna shut up now.

No, but Al queda were never members of the UN, so I wouldn't expect them to. Neither of these groups truly have the power to invade and or obliterate anyone they desire either. The US is the world's only true super power, and if they decide that they don't really care about the rest of us and want to shoot for world domination (extreme I know) they're a lot more likely to pull it off than Iraq.

Socket, don't take me so literally. Obviously America had to react, but they were going to use this as an excuse, as they did. And yes, that is exactly what they accomplished, eye for an eye. I wouldn't have that, and that isn't what i said. I simply said that it annoys me how, even though eastern countries are having murders everyday, caused by these "terror" organisations, the ONLY time the super powers acted was when it hurt them. THAT is what annoyed me.
