I've seen Eric twice (back in the Eighties) first in Sydney and really enjoyed it. The second was in Canberra at the Entertainment Centre and Tommy Emmanuele was the support act and totally blew Eric of the stage. It was a concert by numbers, no energy, no passion. My mate who was a huge Claption fan never listened to him again...... Yes yes yes I know, it may have been the playing in Canberra bit but...

I wish you good luck and I truly hope he puts on a good show.

Im going to the second Eric Clapton Sydney concert with my uncle, mum and Dad... Dad is a big fan. I went to a Tommy Emmanuel concert when I was in year 2 ever sice then I have been playing guitar boogie on my guitar. We also tried to get Red Hot Chilli Peppers tickets but we weren't in luck.

's interesting this post.

I've always considered Clapton to be pretty mediocre. Now before you get me wrong, let me say that I loved his work with The Yardbirds (raw-est and punkiest of the 60's brit bands) , John Mayall's Blues Breakers, Cream and Derek and the Dominoes (playing second fiddle to Duane Allman) With those guys the dude is a god.

EVERYTHING I've ever heard of his solo stuff kinda sucks. I'd totally believe him getting blown away by Tommy Emanuel, and I don't rate Tommy as high as I do his brother Phil.

I saw the 2005 cream reunion on the ABC on NYE and it was quite good (despite not including NSU or Tales of Brave Ulysses). It was the best Clapton I've heard in years.

Be interesting to hear what you all thunk of him this time around.

I just watched the Cream concert I recorded from NYE, pretty average..

Whoever said "concert by numbers" go it in one, old men trying to look passionate while they play songs they wrote 30 years ago, some of it was cool but overall nothing flash.

Pretty disappointing for someone who likes Cream!

Have you seen the whole DVD that was like 1/4 of it and they didn't even put some of the good songs like Toad just for the 13 mins Drum solo plus there like 60 something. i have the DVD and watch it all the time

i watched the cream concert when it was on and i thought it was really good,
it might have been the fact that eric clapton was there
