well, myself and a couple of mates of mine have sram X.0 shifters, mine was somewhat stiff, hard to move, and has slow return after pushing the lever.

his is the exact oppostite, smooth, fast, etc.

i find others similiar to mine, some to his.

the shifting quality on both is exactly the same.

i've already checked outer casing, new line & relube.

i tried throwing a little bit of oil in the centre of the shifter also.

it was stiff even before i hooked it up to the cable, just out of the box. the inside of the shifter didn't have any crap in it.

as far as i can tell i've elimintated all of it except something being too tight inside the shifter, i'm not keen to rip that apart unless i know exactly what i'm doing in there.

can somebody help me out here ?

It sounds like you are right about something being to tight on the inside. If your not keen to pull it apart yourself then it might be best to take it to you lbs.

It sounds like a sram.
Most X9's i've tried are different from each other too.

Something is probably binding inside, finding what that is will probably be a pain (and include filing/sanding that something down) - a quicker fix to try would be to remove the top cover, pack it with a good grease, and use it for a while to see if the action gets better over time.

Hassle Sram/Monza about it... you don't wanna pull hundreds of dollars worth of shifter apart. Those things are a friggin pain to get back together.

How new is it? My 07 X-9 Setup I got brand new about one and a half months ago and lbs said it would be stiff for a few weeks, maybe less/more depending how much you ride, but for the past couple of weeks it has been fine and feels great. But I'm not sure about X0, it may be a totally different scenario, or something may actually be wrong.
