Should I buy a Last Raffnix frame or a NS Suburban frame for street/dirt.
Thanks, Jon

There's a few things to consider here:
1. Price. If you've got money to blow its not such a big deal, but otherwise:
- The Raffnix is $900 new
- The Suburban is $749 new
2. Weight. If you want the lightest you can get:
- The Raffnix weighs somewhere around 2.9 - 3.2kg
- The Suburban weighs around 2.2 - 2.4kg
3. Strength. Although they're both cromo frames:
- The Raffnix is bombproof
- The Suburban is not (but is almost as good)
4. Uniqueness. Individual?
- The Raffnix frames are less easy to come accross than suburban, therefore there are fewer people who ride them.
- The Suburban frames are more common, so you might end up fitting in with a crowd if you have one.
Anyway, hope that helps, let us know how it goes. This is my Raffnix as a tease.

If you have the money, and the muscles to throw it around, Raffnix, because it comes in that nice blue IMO:D Plus, you want to stand out from the crowd of stps and suburbans?

Are suburbans really as common as some people on this forum make them out to be? I know a lot of users on the forum have suburbans and that is because they are an absolutely fantastic frame that is light, strong and at a good price. I planned on getting one but I picked up a mob at a fair price.
To be honest, I hardly ever see suburbans anywhere and when I have its usually someone on this forum who owns it. Ive never actually noticed a 'suburban crowd' Sorry about the rant Id go the NS personally and I did not think they were a very common bike at all.

But then again most people who ride STP's that you see are also a member..
There's no question that there are more STP's out there, but when you compare Suburban's to Raffnix's the ratio is about 4:1..possibly more.

If I was you I'd get a raffnix. Basically just because of the original factor and the nice colour:)

Have thought about other bikes too. The agent frames are nice like the cooper or the smith .But if those are your only options grab a Raffnix. the colour is cool:cool: sorry for the brief thread-jack but do they make raffnix frames with a spanish BB??

do they make raffnix frames with a spanish BB??
Im pretty sure they only come out in a bmx bb, and the rufus comes out with a euro.

i reckon the NS is the way to go its so light for the strength. if you have a grand to spend check out the dobermann Pinscher i saw it on xxiv.com, it weighs 2.2 kilos and has sweet geo. also comes in every colour imaginable.

I see a damn lot of stock stps out there that probably belong to people who are not members of this forum.
suburban vs raffnix rareness, well lets just say Ive never seen a raffnix in real life:eek: So Id assume they are pretty damn rare!

is it true that pikes hit the downtube
do you mean when you're doing an x-up or barspin??
i have heard of this but it could be with any forks and with any frame
it depends on the geometry of the frame

The Last Raffnix is without a doubt the most classy, unique (for the moment!) street bike that also has awesome riding characteristics. I have only just got hands on one and the speed at which my skills have increased on the Last is unreal. It's ability to manual, hop, spin and tap is phenomenal, not to mention the ease at which you perform, you truly feel at one with the frame. My opinion may be slightly biased but i know i'm on to a good thing! I'm also a little skeptical at the amount of Suburbans described. I haven't seen many in Melbourne. I do know they are light, but the build and shape of the frame is very similar to that of the Last so i just wonder if the weight saving makes for a reduction in strength. Anywho hope that helps.;)

Hey Tristan, I was just wondering what the reason behind your running 24 inch wheels on your Last. I own one myself and run 26's which let me run the tyre about one millimetre behind the seat tube. I found that if it tucks up like that the ride becomes more technical and tight. Beautiful! Yeah I'd like to hear your opinion. Thanks. :)

The Last Raffnix has a rare seat tube size that limits you to only a couple of options. With my Last I was forced to run a BBB post which is the only post i know for that size seat tube. The BBB post is good but if anyone else knows of any other posts that fit it would be interesting. Not even Thompson make a post that fits it.

My reasoning behind 24" basically stems from wanting to be able to throw it around even more than with 26". I'm not a very big person, so 24" just felt a little more "my size" if that makes sense. I can hop it, spit it, manual, etc, all a little easier with 24". I know with 26" it can be run within a bee's nipple of the seat tube, but with 24" i can slam it all the way in and not have to worry about it hitting.

The case here is basically: As it's a unique size seat tube, to run any other post you need to run a shim. You can buy a shim which will then fit a 27.2mm seatpost, as there are various brands and styles of 27.2. At the moment ive got on order a Snafu BMX post, but you can also get a Thomson, or any other brand seatpost in that size for that matter. Problem solved.

forget about how many people have it or whatever, take a ride of both and see what you like better, and see which you can get for a better deal.
seriously, who cares how many people have a certain type of bike.

I know exactly how many suburbans and Lasts are out there and I can assure you that the suburban is not the new STP, its just that you probably spend alot of time on this forum that is full of riders that know generally what is good and bad... it has got some great reviews and there are probably a handful of riders on here with them... which makes it seem like the whole mtb community rides one. hehe I wish! ;)
But honestly, the set up for both is very similar in terms of geometry. they will suit someone that likes riding technical DJ/park or street.
The Last would defenantly be stronger as it uses a much thicker tubing, but this does mean a sacrafice in weight. The Suburban is mega light... yet it is far from weak.
Alternatively go for broke and get one of the new 2007 Last Rufus frames. They have euro BB, weight savings due to a very expensive japanese cromo and awesome geo. No gussets makes them look stupidly slick. They arrive in May and will retail for around $1099. Colours will be Metalic Black, Purple, White.

mate... wat the hell kinda drugs are u on
ns bikes will never be the new STP. u dont see loosers riding round on ns bikes because people that are good riders and people that look into wat there getting buy ns products.
i ride ns and im in love with my bike
it has the greatest geo ever (in my opinion)
both bikes that your looking at look schweeeeet
if it was me i would think seriously about the rafnik, but i strongly urge u to get the suburban. there both nice bikes and wat eva u get im sure u will be happy with
STP's will neva be the new suburban!

i had STP, now i have Suburban (which seems to be snaped) and i already bought Raffnix. Havent tried it yet as im waiting for new parts but one thing is clear for me - Suburbans are WAY TOO LIGHT. they have great geo but thin tubing cannot take much abuse (im not very light but i was always riding with suspension and im quite smooth). if you are extra mega smooth you may buy NS. if you want stronger frame just buy Last

We have only received one suburban frame for warranty, and that was due to a manufacturing fault, it didnt snap!
If yours has broken from riding why dont you send it in for warranty.
Cheers,
Ben.

im form Lithuania. we have 2 broken frames at the moment. one is obviously cracked at HT/TT joint and SS/TT joint. there are paint cracks on my frame in the same places. im not 100% sure that its snaped but its kinda hard to believe that it is fine..
this is not an excuse for the new frame - i was thinking about Last for like 2 or 3 months before i noticed some cracks on paint. Im not buying light frame again :)
