View Full Version : Requirements for a 4X bike
before you start...I've searched but I can't find the little snippet of info I'm after.
can someone point me to the rules on setting up a 4X bike, ie rigid forks, wheel size, gears vs SS. I know they're posted on here somewhere.

I think they have to have 2 of the following requirements.
* 26inch wheels
* Suspension
* More than 3 gears
And front and rear brakes are mandatory of course

Hardtail with suspension forks, 26" wheels for a faster and smoother roll, gears to make it easier to get out of tight situations if you're racing, and front and rear brake to make deceleration that much easier. Sounds good to me.

yeah that's what I thought, but I can't find the official line from anyone, I've checked the MTBA website and I found this RE: trials bikes but nothing on 4X

4.9.2.2 26” bicycles
• wheel size being 26” .
• functioning rear derailleur
• minimum of six speed rear cluster.

They are the rules that WSMTB follow for 4X.
