ok so far, i can bunnyhop about 8inches measured from the back wheel. ive been trying manuals but just cant get it. i think its my fear of falling thats stopping me from getting right back and really hanging out there.
its the same deal with 180's off curbs. are curbs high enuff to practice 180 or should i be looking a bit bigger?

does anyone know if they can give me some pointers on the manuals? also, is there a difference between a wheelie and a manual?

what should be my next trick after manuals and 180's? abubaca and fufanu's?

hey
im another stp street rider and i have gone through all the stress of manuals and 180's etc. there is a huge thread on how to manual but as a general rule lean back and low over the rear wheel and then push out your legs to pop up the front. being scared of going over is something you gave to sort out on your own, try going slow and looping out so you lose the fear.

for 180s its mainly practice but until you can bunnyhop pretty high doing them on flat is hard. when i learnt i did them off a foot high gutter to grass.

hope this helps
now go practice!

thats what i wanted to know. so ive got to push forward on the pedals as im pulling the front up? cause right now im getting over the back and reefing on the bars. its just not "popping"

yeh, i can get like 100 degrees spin on flat. dosent help im tring to spin 90kg's plus bike lol. im going to go searchin for a nice drop i can practice on.

Yeh, i'm having a bit of trouble doing 180's too. Can't seem to get mush past 90 degrees. I konw the preloading is very important.. Ryan Leech seems to do a bunnyhop with a bit of a pedal kick to get enough air to rotate 180...

but yeh, i think we just need to practise more.. it helps to be able to bunny hop higher than 8 inches ;)

Good luck!

Manuals - Rear brake lever confidence..If you know how to work it, and work it well (as in at the right time) you'll get manuals a lot faster because you'll have more confidence to really get over the back of the bike.

180's - Commitment is key here. You really want to be looking where you're going (as in turning your head and shoulders). Another thing - dropping 180's isnt always the best way to learn. Try going to the local skatepark or anywhere with a bank to flat, or upramp with an area to roll out and try off there. The extra height you get gives you more time to spin.

Good luck with it.

I find that when im doing a 180 I dont really look to where im going to be going like a 360. I carve in the direction I want to spin, preload then bunnyhop as hard as I can while twisting my whole lower body in the direction I want to be spining. I find that this way it's easier to keep the fakie balanced, when I try and do it like a 360 and I land looking backwards I just lose balance and fall over.

just go out and practise for like hours on end and just get a feel for it.
and gutters are good to learn on!

try not to do 180's on a duely... my mate did it, bent his swing arm.

yeh i agree with tristan
rear brake is key to becoming good at manuals

I think you should first try to learn 180s off the flat, yes its a little harder but its less intimidating.

Do you know the proper technique to bunnyhop, because my hop was around 8 inches then i went away and just hopped anything i could (people, tables and trees) now i can hop around 20 inches and twice the length which now i can hop 12 feet long, its just practice mate, if u have the right tech down, should be getting it in no time, and I dont think a gutter is big enough to try and 180 off, twice the size and it would just be acceptable!

with the manuals when u go to far its like an instant reaction to jump off, and its easy, when you feel that you've gone too far or your about to tip just keep holding the bars and push ur feet off the pedals and u just land and run holding the bike just by the bars until you stop

i try 180 in a bowl or a quater and then once you have that down the try it out of the quater then u will eventually be good enough to do it on flat.
thats how i practiced im easily making the 180 now but it feels unco to do it off a gutter or something like that. does anyone else share this feeling???
