The stromlo downhill course is hardly ridable:( , there are massive ruts and when my cousin was there on thursday water was still running down the track. I dont know but i would say they will have to spend alot of time fixing it. Dont know about the xc or 4x though.
Sorry if already posted

Probably because the place is still CLOSED!!!

You're cousin isn't helping to remedy the situation by riding it either...

Straight from the top of the food chain ...
yea, until the bridges come in, we are not touching any of it until then, all the new changes, (which rando and ben cory gave the thumbs up) will not be inserted*until bridge time, so i hope we get some decent damage on the track to help with character.
plus we are reducing the length of the dh, because 3.19 was what we were after to allow us to reduce the length and make the track faster, we are aiming for a 2.30-250,its part of our design process.
but listen to this, after the driest canberra season in 8000 years, canberra recieved the wettest and wildest storm cell in history, dumping nasty amounts of water on the driest earth, a real challenge for us

Hey, his cousin here just saying that i didnt ride it, me and a mate drove out there and walked about half of the track then chose not to ride the DH course due to the massive damage done by the rain:( .
P.S.
this is very unfortunate due to the hard work of Glen and his team and the fact that i only rode the DownHill track once:(

Jeez... looks like Glen's going to have his work cut out. Tsv dirt jump park has had some serious rain damage and is barely rideable now as well...

Here's an idea! Why not contact who ever's responsible (trailsATcorc.asn.au in the case of Stromlo) and offer *your* help to fix it...
I know for a fact that there's a working bee at Stromlo April 21, 22.

How thoughtful of you...

Stromlo HAS suffered of late because of the storms, but to put it into context so has Majura Pines (one of our other popular riding spots at Majura). The bureau claimed after the Xmas/NYE flooding that that they were the "one in 50 year" storms or some other crap - only problem is that we have had about 5 of these "1 in 50 year" storms in the last 2 months. So there aren't too many of our spots with real hills that didn't take some battering, unless the rain passed over them (which is not uncommon here in Canberra - it could be OK in one suburb, and bucketing down in the adjoining suburb)
The DH has had some of the more serious issues, but as Glen has said, and as Jim has said, and as FRDrew has said, and as I have said multiple times on this forum THE DH TRACK IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, so it really doesn't matter. There shouldn't be anyone on it. What part of CLOSED do some people not understand? (note the "some people" - respect to those of you who are towing the line and doin' the right thing :-) Glen has stated that he has no intention of addressing any of the rain damage until he comes back to finish off the trail alignment once the bridge goes in, and given the possibility of more storms like we have had recently I can see his point. Why come back now to fix a track that is currently CLOSED? If you are really concerned about the state of the trails, then take JJim's advice and come along to our working bee in April. There will be plenty to do, so you won't be bored.
As for the XC trails, there are sections that have suffered a bit but nothing that cannot be fixed with some man (or woman power), some rockwork and some tools. In some places the water has created some paths over the tracks which look like they are candidates for some armouring, and there is some reinforcing of a trail edge with a new rockwall where the rain hit it hard but aside from that the ride I did last Sunday was fun (mind you I ride around on a Reign X so don't feel the character of the trail that my mate on the Trance mentioned to me :-).
The 4X is also still closed, and the latest is that it will also not be finished until late April (yep, slipped from the end of Feb but outta CORC's hands).
So grab your tools and head along to fix the damage to our trails that this latest bastard of a storm has done.(only through the official working bees of course)
Oh, and did I mention that the DH was CLOSED! And yes, there will be signs installed at the top of the DH and in the event centre carpark informing riders of the closures (subject to Govt timetable).

'Astroboy' elaborates, "The DH track IS officially closed until AFTER the bridge is installed over the equestrian crossing - this is indeed the intersection that Cam described. When will it be installed and the track re-opened? Who knows. It's being done by the Govt so it's to the usual bureaucratic timetable. BUT I will guarantee that I will try my hardest to get it done as fast as possible. The bridge is supposedly sitting out at the airport ready and waiting to go, so there is obviously some delay in choppering it over (planning approval IS required). Once I find out the full story I will be happy to share it. Note though that even after the bridge is installed we need to get Glen back to do some changes to the track - rerouting is required to account for the new overpass."

Everything is in there.

Would certainly be looking forward any working bee at Stromlo to help get the course ready (slated for 21-22 April as above), but the NSW Gravity Series calendar lists the first round at Stromlo on 21-22 April? See http://forums.farkin.net/showthread.php?p=887718#post887718
Any clarification anyone?

Speaking of CORC, is there an ETA on the Gunners jumps? Or does anyone at least know when building's gonna start? Me and a couple of mates are keen to help out in any way we can.
Sorry to go OT :p

Race organisers and track builders have still given us the thumbs up for the alloted date. Will keep people posted on here and the NSWMTB website.

Stromlo is open for equestrian usage.
However, could you please drop me a PM with your mobile phone / email / or other contact details as I would like to discuss some horse matters with you.
Thanks
