Yeah, I know this should probably go in Tasmania's section of the watering hole but I tried posting there and found the tumbleweed blowing across the screen to be too much of a distraction...
Anyways, as of the start of next month I'm going to be doing a 12 week course just north of Launceston. I think I get the weekends off so I'm catching the ferry over and chucking one of the bikes in the back of the ute.
Where are the best riding spots in that neck of the woods. I'll be taking the Reign across so anything (DH, XC etc.) goes...
(the location of a decent boozer or two would be handy as well ;) )

Yeah, definitely get onto www.pedalbite.com there is always people there who want to ride. I live in Launceston (near city park) and would be willing to show you around our local trails.
I mainly ride DH, XC might kill me if i attempt it on my Savage. There is a few trails in close proximity of the Gorge (5 mins drive from city centre), and they can be great fun... perfect for a Reign. PM me or get in touch with us on pedalbite to organise some riding. :D

How long are you looking to ride for?
Rather than limit yourself to one area you may want to consider travelling to a few spots. If you are interested in some longer rides I can shoot you through some trail notes for some very good spots.
I'm also happy to go for some longer day rides if you want a guide of sorts or someone to scrape you off the trails should the need arise.
Pedalbite is ok, but some of the best trails in the state don't even get a mention.....
PM me if you want to discuss some options :)
Additional: Make sure you bring a good variety of gear with you if you do intend doing some longer rides as the weather and trail terrain is likely to be variable.
