DIY Demo

So a few weeks ago i bought a new frame. problem was it was a silver demo....just like everyone elses

......... i soon changed that!

i decided to do a DIY job cos ive never done spray painting before, so i thought id learn. finding the time to work on it was the hardest part. Colour is Subaru World Rally Blue (02C).

i know it doesnt look anywhere near some of the other amazing airbrush jobs by others recently, but im not that skilled!

these pics are just under fluro lights in my shed, it looks so much better in the sunlight!! i'll get a pic soon.

Big thanks to Fatboy for the sale, and Jared for the advice on how to paint.

i'll post some pics of the whole process later on.

however how did you DIY it?just with spray cans or did you actually go to a painting bay and do it with 2 pak or somthing?

That looks really good! The blue is sensational.......I'm not fussed on the Specialised writing though, I reckon it would look better with no writing on it (except for a 555 sticker of course ;) ).

That paint job is sweet as, looks awsome, blue was the perfect color and the stencil of Specialized is awsome. Very sweet.

yeh its a 2004 demo9, bought the frame 2nd hand so as no waranty anyhow, i decided to paint it. the stencils are actually vinyl stickers that i had made up. found the font on the net, and the designs are adapted from another one i found on the net. the place i had it done already had the 'S' on their system so i got that done too, probably could have gone slightly bigger tho. Dozer; yeh im starting to agree, i like that font less and less each time i look at it. might find a diff one for next time. 555, nice call!! i'll keep that as an option. and maby a hot pink STI on it somewhere. thatll make it go faster! fully sik wiked!!

i'll try to get a pic of it in sunlight in the next few days. if it stays sunny here!

having never riden a demo before, i had my first run down the mountain on tuesday, and it is so much quicker then anything else i have owned! i think i need to upgrade the brakes!

Man, a Demo would have to be the last frame i would attempt to paint myself, so top marks! Prodrive blue is a wicked colour for anything really, and always works with gold. I'm also not much of a fan of the font on the downtube but its not too bad (font wise how about keeping it in the family...see below). The stencils look top tho. Really matches the colour of the 40's stantions. Please please please don't put a pink "S" on the front just to make it go faster though. :p

BTW, font wise, what about basing it on Prodrive's own font...?

How much did the stickers set you back? Im toying with doing something similer myself. Damn nice job of the painting you did there too. Looks quite professional with the logos.
