Just letting you know that the admin guys won't like you putting the same post in two different threads. Just stick to doing one. Just letting you know in a friendly manner as others might not be so nice about it.

I would be guessing that those forks that you have arent very light. ( although new forks can be very expensive). Maybe try and check the farkin.net for sale threads to see if there are any bargains around. Good luck with getting the weight down.

hey i got a shred and its low 14s but i am about to shave some more weight off, try cutting ur seat post, cutting bars down. take front brake off. go single speed and try to get perfect tension, take bash ring of if u want to go that far, take of the small ring on the front. but if u want to spend some money lighten things that sping first, coz things that spin are heavier then things like stem, bars etc. so things like pedals, wheels, cranks ect.

Maxxis Hookworms are heavy peices of crap. No offence, but I think they weigh up to 800g each!

Yeah, I heard 900, but I put it down to 800 just in case I was wrong... Still really heavy though!

I'm not exactly sure what type of riding you're doing, so I just made the upgrades as versitile and cheap as I could think of. Those upgrades should bring it to the mid-high 13kgs or there abouts.

You do not have to shop overseas at the places I said, but as you said you where on a tight budget I only thought it was fair to let you in on it, by all means support your LBS when possible, but as some people can't understand, not everyone is made of money. :)

Those pedals are tons heavy as well, I only just saw you had them. Shimano DX's for lightness and durabilty, and MG-1s for extreme lightness (350g a pair), but can crack easily.

if he does this, he will need new hub aswel, plus spokes etc. or new wheel.

No one has said(or ive missed) the maxxis tyres. A hookworm and a holy roller.. ouch.. get some light tyres and your notice a big difference.

do lots of skids and wear out the tyres you should get about 200grams lighter without the tread.
