I have just been reading the short autobiography on Dangerous Dan linked through the www.nsmb.com site. It seems to me like this guy really, really likes himself. If he has done everything he says, he has achieved a fair bit and from the videos you can see that he can ride rings around 99% of us. When I read the text he just seems like a guy blowing his own trumpet. ??????

I agree, I am not saying I dislike him but like you said he comes across uncool. A bit like a few people in any walk of life I guess.
He is a fucking awesome shore rider, but I have also seen video interviews and he is infact a dickhead, oh well, I guess thats what happens when you become famous.

I can see a bit of that in his writing, but at the start of his latest installment he wrote this
"I apologize for this because after reading it I realized that it made me sound like a I thought I was better than most, a little "high" on myself I would say (I tend to write these articles pretty fast and I was never one for proof reading)."
Anyway he is writing about the Shore and he was the first guy to really push the limits in there by not only building but also riding the biggest and thinnest lines. So I don't think he's big noting himself, i think hes just writing it the way he saw it.

I've never read anything he's written, but I met him last year in a hardware store on Bowen Island (just off Vancouver). I recognised him and said hello. He was happy to talk to me for 10 minutes or so, even though I was just some Aussie he'd never seen before. He seemed pretty cool to me. Talked about riding without telling me how good he was - he mentioned a few other guys but didn't talk about himself. He didn't have any "superstar" attitude at all.

Go read this http://nsmb.com/people/danger_dan_07_01.php (and then the second part http://nsmb.com/people/danger_dan_10_01.php) and learn.
Dan trained and worked as a HS teacher - imagine having him as a teacher - that'd have to be cool.

This was the story I have read. He seems like he is pretty cluey just knows it a bit. I am not trying to pick on him, just wondering what other people thought of him.

you have got to remeber he isn't like most of us DEVLIN, he has basically given birth to shore everywhere in the world and changed the face of todays modern riding. he isnt as far as riding is concerned just another rider.i think its fine for him to be on this higher level because of the devotion he has put into his sport and his pure amount of natural skill that he posseses. and that 99% figure would be more like 99.999%

Yeah, i think you are right bazza.
Thanks for the insight BCrida. I just was asking with a few comments because I like his riding. I won't question it anymore.
