whats your opinion, is it worth it to go freecoaster. or just stay normal.
money is no the problem, i have heard they slip and are very un-reliable.
i was looking at the khe geisha street. but im not that interested in having a crap hub that slips ( if it does ).
whats your opinion.
( i know theres a thread on freecoasters but i was just wondering about the khe hub in particular )
cheers, andrew

They aren't that common, yet; so you won't hear that much about them. What I've concluded is that if you don't get the top shelf model: KHE Geisha, the they're shit. The KHE seems to be quite durable.
alright

Don't get one. Trust me, I have one. They look cool, and are cool for about 1 week after having it, then you will just be like '... Meh' and want to backpedal.
They need loads of maintence, and break really easy.
You have to be really smooth for it to stay in one.
Save yourself the time and effort

Wouldn' t buy a Freecoaster these days. The Ody Coaster is has a really big slack, and the System doesn' work as well as the Geisha. But the Geisha Stud System doesn't work good with Pegs.
If you run a pegless bike, the geisha is quite good, if not i'd wait either for the Federal or for the New KHE coaster ,which have full thru Axle.
A Geisha with thruaxle would be allmost perfect!
I Personally wait untill they get fully developed and grown up.
yeah, wait till they get better I reckon, as trailstar said federal is working on a freecoaster with the addition of Bruce Crisman to the team etc, KHE is developing a new one I think, and even Ian Schwartz is working on his own one (see rideuk 100, ian schwartz interview).

What Brand and Model is yours? What went wrong? Why would you ever want to backpedal?

How do the pegs affect the hub?
alright

Freecoasters are usually not strong enough (axelwise) to run pegs.
I've got a nankai. Nothings wrong, a little bit of play, but can fix that. You have to be super smooth to keep it running good, whats wrong with backpedalling? Not back pedalling gets really boring after a while. You will realise after you have one for a while.

How do the pegs affect the hub?
as far as im aware, it relates to the studded axle the geishas currently run. some people seem to have some issues with it not being strong enough compared to a solid axle.

yeh my mate has got the KHE geisha hubs but he rides flat land i've rid'in his bike and there is hardly any lag when you pedal but, that was when it was new and he has to do a lot of maintence to keep it running smooth

I think Nankai are the best!!
why so?
do you run one? have you run any other freecoaster previously so you are educated enough to say ,yes this is in fact the best?
