Finally the FRM frame I bought is in my posession.
Initial thoughts: What a weapon of a bike! 4.3kg for frame and shock, but you'll see why...
It does look a bit "agricultural", lacking the smooth lines some bikes have, but fark it's overbuilt, and the attention to detail is impressive.
To start with, the frame

http://www.farkin.net/forums/album_pic.php?pic_id=3972

Then the detail, such as mega headtube gusseting

Seattube gusset, which, as with above, is an "open throat" design, which I've been led to beleive is a much better design than closing them up.

CNC'd shock mounts with huge amounts of beef:

CNC'd dropouts and pivot mounts
http://www.farkin.net/forums/album_thumbnail.php?pic_id=3980 (http://www.farkin.net/forums/album_pic.php?pic_id=3980)

Where the CNC'd bits meet tubing it's reinforced
http://www.farkin.net/forums/album_thumbnail.php?pic_id=3979 (http://www.farkin.net/forums/album_pic.php?pic_id=3979)

Now, what to put on this bike? I've got a good idea of spec floating in my head... Sherman Sliders, a 4way out back, SRAM driveline, everything Aireal make, Liquid cranks, and some other stuff. Brakes, bars, stem, seatpost are about the only unsure items, but they're only minor anyway.

I've made a start on the wheels, running Aireal hubs
http://www.farkin.net/forums/album_thumbnail.php?pic_id=3982 (http://www.farkin.net/forums/album_pic.php?pic_id=3982)
on doublewides
http://www.farkin.net/forums/album_thumbnail.php?pic_id=3983 (http://www.farkin.net/forums/album_pic.php?pic_id=3983)
but need to pull apart both current wheelsets and rebuild them together.

It'll be an interesting few months ahead of me, as I scrape together the cash to do this, I do know that no corners will be cut, even if it means not riding for a few weeks, I'm gunna do it right first time and it'll be worth it!

it is a heap better desing than welding across the tube. The old MkI and II Gimp frame were welded across the tube on the headtube/downtube gusset on the underneath of the downtube. it made a weak spot in the otherwise structurally sound downtube in a high stress area and a heap of their frames bent/cracked there. Now they run the "open throat" desing.

nice frame btw..

Yeh, that's what my thinking was, it's ok to weld parallel with tubes, but as soon as you weld perpendicular, especially with a tough gusset, it's asking for the frame to fold around it.

exactly, if you think about the way in which the forces from the HT are pulling on the DT, its no wonder a few of em carked it..
ill try and find some pics of one

same deal with the old PX bommers..
the weld across on the bottem gusset cracked, the downtube snapped in half cleanly. The TT crumpled and then snapped at the weld across on the TT gusset..now theres a job for grip!

when you getting an avy? :P

When you buy one for me...
Otherwise, it'll be 4way swinger for me, good balance of price and performance, SPV front and rear will make for a very tunable bike.

Gutty's old one. But if anyone else is impressed by this, jump on LiveToRides, with the extra linkages it transforms the bike... that's the reason I bought this, so much fun to be had changing everything around, going from a trail to "freeride" to DH bike by fiddling with linkages and shock settings. An all-rounder true to the term.

And yeh, probably get Sliders, moreso for SPV tuning capabilities front and rear. I may still be swayed towards a Boxxer with Mojo upgrade, still got some thinking to do.

hah, that's what happens when you put a 1.8" tyre on a rim that's as wide as that!

And yeh Naz, I sorta have gone soft, my wrists are suffering from too many big hits, as are my knees, it's time to give myself some comfort. This "hardtail pride" shit is all great until your body starts getting knocked about.
