at the moment i have been having trouble with the springs in my flys i dunno if its the tension in the is really bad if i need new springs, as i pull the brake in they only come out the tiniest bit meaning they rub until the rubbing has pushed the brake back far enough so it doesn't, also i run a linear cable and oddy lever if it helps, all comments welcome

cheers tim

Yeah, I've given up with my Fly's... Running Brakeless till I can get to a proper BMX shop (Hard to find in Brissie...) and I'm getting them to set them up.

Ok
I dont know alot about Fly brakes specifically but a common brake problem is havin the springs to tight causing them to lock up.
try loosenig them and if dont spring back id say new spring is the way to go.

fly brakes are undisputably the best working U brake you will find...

when I was working a bike shop it was always a pain setting up tektro, hombre and even diacompe AD-990's, thank god ody evolver and fly brakes were releases!!

If you brake are poor quality, I suggest having a look at your cable inner and housing to make sure it is moving freely with little friction (if it is non slic cable maybe try running some grease into the strands of the inner) if brake cable is moving freely try re-tensioning the springs, I know you get two sets (hard and Soft) with evolover maybe try another set of springs... if that doesn;t work see if the pads are knackered and need replacing...

If that still doesn't work I suggest selling them to me for $20 ;)

peace

I have flys but I suck at setting them up etc. What would be an ideal shop in Sydney where they could set up your brakes professionally for a small amount of money? Would cycology be good?

cyclogy is the only shop I can think of...

when we went to Sydney for the xgames in 2000, after a week ong shredding session up the coast, we went into cycology after hours and got all our rigs going smooth for the xgames, bought some cool stuff there too....

seriously the best thing I can think of for you to do is ask one of your older locals to set them up for you for $10 or something.. some of the most dialed bicycle technicians dont work in bike shops... they are at your local park...

or come down to hoebart and get a educational experience at our local parks ;)
