Perspective Two - Rise of the Locals is about local riders in their element. The local scene is one of the most important parts of mountain biking, it’s what we all call home in different ways. Rise of the Locals aims to convey that local experience with the rest of the world.

Looooking good Oliver... You should of put the Lithgow footage in , im highly dissapointed ..... I liked your secret epic track, i wanted to see you on your hardtail pinning it down there. You said it was harder than it looks, im going to have come up there and see for myself.
Your filming was great, i know you were under time constraints so you couldn't reshoot anything. Excellent work Oliver, can't wait till the next project. it's going to be a killer :D
Cheers

Well done on producing the movie, I really want to see it!
However, i can't download 280mb, are you going to release this movie on DVD? or at least put it on google video.
I think you are really restricting your audience by releasing it this way.

Well done on bringing the second one out.
I have seen the first little bit of it and it seems pretty good.
You should bring it out on DVd as i reckon you'd get a much broader audience then just the members on farkin.
Look foward to seeing the whole film and your next production.

If all goes to plan I will be putting up a somewhat smaller copy online at a later date. I do encourage you if at all possible to opt for the larger one, as I've put a lot of time into the production values, colour and image quality, which will be quickly lost when I drop below the 100mb mark:)
The video is around 18 minutes long, so its not 280mb without reason, however for those who reeeally cant download something this big (which I understand) I will aim to put up a smaller copy next week.
Also, I might be authoring a few DVDs for distribution through some local Sydney bike shops and via postage for those who really want it. Probably will be fairly cheap too.
Thanks for your input!:)

That was really really cool!
Some great angles, and colours - makes the places and rides look so fresh.
If you were after some constructive criticism I would say that some of the scene changes could have had more flow to them i.e fading the music and or images.
That said the overall level of editing was very high.
Top stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aragah,
For some strange reason, I don't think my dialup is going to take this download to well. Currently downloaded 16% in the past 4 hours.

(Ps. Any screenshots I can have a look at, whilst I'm awaiting my download to finish)

Fantastic video, can't wait to see the rest. Quality camerawork and editting. Great music selections for the most part. You really did well by the riders to shoot them at what looks like dusk when there's really good light (or fake it with good post production).
As a fellow mtb filmer I would only suggest slightly longer delays between segments, some titles (or a narration track), and that's about it.
One question: This was shot on HDV I assume? If so, what cam? If you shot on DV then bravo, you did a REALLY good job controlling the light in the shots and post processing to get really good color.
Again, great job!

HBT: It was actually shot on DV, I use a Panasonic GS500. I did indeed shoot as much as I could in the late afternoon, and all those scenes turned out great. I couldn't afford that luxury for every scene but its always something to learn from.
So far a few people have mentioned the short scene changes, and the want of a few titles. I will definetly take that advice into consideration for the next video, thank you for the feedback.:)
Olly: Thanks for the info. I'm really impressed. Looks really good for DV. Having now watched it a TON of times I have some more constructive feedback for ya you may appreciate.
The scene with the White Stripes song, I thought you went a bit overboard with the saturation. Also, DV compression really murders red tones and orange, so you may want to avoid (in the future) having a rider in a red top as it ends up looking like a big red mass of pixels.
The first dirt jumping scene had a bit too aggressive saturation bump too. I only noticed because the rider's face looked a bit Umpa Lumpa ya know? Hehehe.
Overall though, like I said before it's a great effort. You have a nice blend of Alex Rankin Earthed series and The Collective. Basically the exact look I shoot for too, though I'm not as stead as you are and I can't afford a boom crane for Collective style shots. Hehehehe.

Just wondering, on both oxford falls parts with Tom Patton, where are those tracks in Oxford, especially the one in the end of the 2nd section of oxford where Patton does an 'E.T' (whats that) is it the gap jump? oh and where is the track 'black betty'? that track looks so well built, thumbs up to whom ever built it.
thanks

Great vid Olly. Looks so pro!

Hey, Don't tease! Maybe the rider likes to apply lots of fake tan!
I can't afford a boom crane for Collective style shots. Hehehehe.
Neither can Olly.... ;) You'd be amazed what some planks of timber, screws, nuts and bolts can produce! You should patent it Olly.

Wow... there's some serious talent shown in that movie, not only riders, but Olly as a producer/editor/director. As a film-maker myself (albeit not on such a scale), I know how hard it can be to produce a film of such magnitude. Huge props man. Well done.
Edit: Oh by the way, what kind of camera are you using? I'm currently tossing up buying a video camera or a photo camera (~$700-1200 range). Looking at the Canon 400D (photo camera) by the way for anyone that's interested.
