Eh, i wouldn't buy it. I wonder what the rotors will look like?
Hope they're cool:p
Bloody advertising, there would be the same amount if not more, NEGATIVE comments on the brakes.

I reckon its Hayes's comeback against the new XTR/Avid Code/Avid Ultimate?. Looks pretty cool though...

what type of riding are they ment for?
Well, since they're called the "Stroker trail", one would only assume for trail riding?

It looks more like a caliper than a leverl.
I bet it has sick modulation like all the other hayes brakes.

Radial mount design. A follow on from what has come through on motorcycles over the last few years.
I can say from experience that this design feels really good compared to the conventional design. It gives amazing feel. You have direct resistance because you are pulling the lever directly into the pressure of the fluid as opposed to it being pivoted into lateral pressure.
Bring it on!:)
The brakes havent been tested in aus yet..
actually... they've been tested for quite a while in Australia. ;)

I bet just the lever in itself feels better than the horrible HFX-9 levers.
This may be just what Hayes needs to get back into the game. From reading other threads on '08 gear it seems the 'stroker' will be in 3 different versions, with Trail being one of them, a carbon lever version and a 3rd that I cannot recall (probably a HD style version?).
From what I hear, the Nines and Soles will be discontinued and replaced by the Stroker.
Elvis may be able to clarify if this is totally correct.
They have been in testing for quite a bit now and seem to be running very well.
El Camino's are still in the line up too.

Meh... it'll never compare to shimano brakes...
Hayes also seem to need repairing more than ANY of the other brakes that come into the shop where I work.

im more intrested in what the caliper change is rather then the lever.

I'd love to give them a go. Hayes pwn in temr of power but the majority feel like shit. I'll wait for a mate to buy a pair and check them out then.

i don't see anything wrong with them... i actually like the hayes 9's... over my mates juicy 5's and annother mates xt/saint setup.
the only stupid thing i see here is that the resovoir (sp) cap is at 90 degrees to the handlebar.... so you'ld have to take the lever off the bike to be able to setup the resovoir properly when bleeding.
it'll also be interesting to see how compatable it is with the shifter... realy need to see it in the flesh i guess, but i think it looks a bit close with the hosing running off at the side high up on the lever body.
finaly... the fact that the piston cylender is facing openly outwards towards oncoming dirt/mud ect seems overly stupid to me... i'm willing to bet that the master piston gets worn out by abrasion (by the dirt) pretty damn quickly.
on a plus.. i think the lever blade looks a bit flatter than the 9's , which is my only annoyance with the 9's... their profile tends to weaken my ungloved hands pretty quickly on long draws... even on smooth terrain.
oh and...
... It gives amazing feel. You have direct resistance because you are pulling the lever directly into the pressure of the fluid as opposed to it being pivoted into lateral pressure.
i don't fully understand (enlighten me) but how would the fact that the piston rod is attached before the pivot do anything???.... given that the distance between hand, pivot and piston rod are all the same there should be no power differance... in fact the only differance i can see is that the lever will pivot from a point further forward and inwards, creating a diferant lever arc (maybe this is the extra 'feel' component???)
pressure is pressure and it doesn't matter from which direction its being applyed.

You would think that but it does feel different.
I'm also thinking the reason behind this is how the lever works with the piston. You can see that where the lever attaches to the piston is pretty close to your fingers and the fact that it travels in the same direction as your fingers. It just seems like you can really feel what's going on.
I'm not one who can explain it well but try them a system like this if you get a chance and see what you think:)
Your line of thinking is flawed unfortunately. I'm with Noddy in that the only real difference in feel would be from the pivot being further from the bar, much like Avid's way of thinking.

I recall a few issues back in Dirt when they interviewed Darren Berecloth he told them he was using prototype Hayes brakes which he said felt really, really good. Obviously he was just keeping his sponsors happy but do you think these are the ones he was talking about?

well if u dont like em dont bother posting stuff like that keep it to yourself its for opinions thats not an opinion thats more a stab at someone else and the product if you dont like the look of them dont bother buying any but ride some and im sure you will find it the other way round
Hey dude, try making your posts a bit more readable in the future please. Capitalisation, punctuation and structure are pretty important when it comes to legibility. Please try a bit better next time.

so hang on, if i don't like them i can't post, but if you do like them, you can post ?
going by that then we can only post if we have a positive opinion
and secondly i never mentioned anything about the look of hayes, i simply said that they have no modulation whatsoever, and they don't, peroid. not discussion, not opinion, hayes do not have modulation.
try riding a decent brake and i'm sure you will agree with me ;)
thirdly, put some effort into your posts and use punctuation/grammar.
