Current weather forecast says rain for Toowoomba on Saturday, clearing Sunday morning. At this stage the chances of running the race are about 50/50, however a final decision wont be made until its obvious we can't go ahead or midday on Saturday at the very latest.

If the race is called off, the plan is to reschedule for either the following Sunday 6th May or the Sunday after that 13th May.

The threat of having yet another Toowoomba downhill race washed out does appear to have eased during the past 24 hours.

There has been no rain here yet and the earlier weather bureau prediction of general rain today has been revised to the current forecast of light rain mainly this afternoon followed by a cold dry westerly wind change tonight. The weather radar suggests there will be some light rain coming through later today, but at this stage the Toowoomba race is definately ON.

We will keep an eye on the situation through the morning with the view to making a final decision by lunch time today.

i dont think it should be called up because of rain, it is good experience to practise and race in all types of weathers.
just my opinion

dude. putting 200 riders down a track an average of 4 times each in the wet will do nothing other than tear the track to shreds.

on a completely unrelated note;

has anyone got a .pdf or .doc copy of tomorrows entry form? for some reason theyre not on TWP?

Anybody got an idea of how many practice runs each person might get before race time.

depends how dedicated you are. last year at states i got 4 practice runs in. i would assume that there will be fewer people there as its just a normal round this time, so you may get 5 or 6

really its up to you. you can do it so you just ride straight from the bottom of the track to the shuttle line, and you'll get plenty of runs. obviously if you dick around eating and stuff, you will get far fewer runs in.

Any Update on the race tomorrow about weather?

Lunch time update on Toowoomba race.
Despite a bit of drizzle at the top, the track is still dry and heaps of people doing runs.
Just spoke with the weather bureau again - forecast is for a band of rain to come through late this afternoon/tonight containing 5-20mm. If its at the lower end of the range we will be fine, bit doubtfull if we get 20mm.

No one here wants to make a call on it just yet, so the decision to race/not race will be held over for a few more hours.

I got an email at about 1730 saying it's cancelled, I can only assume that is correct.

As if you have a life.

Quick questions to anyone who would know...

Now thats its been postponed for another week, will they be opening the online entry form back up? Wasn't able to race tomorrow, but can now its been postponed (thank you rain:) ), and would prefer to enter online if possible.

the question you must ask yourself is "why do i think i need to register online"

also, "why do i sit on the seat in corners"

Because I suck at riding?

I am actually behind the seat anyway.

As for why I would rather online - I would rather pay by credit card as it is easier for me. So does anyone actually know? Or just want to have a go at my lack of riding skill?

all the rocky boys drove over 750km to get to toowoomba and saturday night find out the race was called off. why was it the track was the best and the ambo's could of so got up the fire road.

Because the call had to be made on Saturday. It had been raining for most of the day, and the organizers didn't want to have to pull the pin on the day... like last year. I bet if they'd gone ahead with it it would have pissed down all sat night and sunday.

Unfortunately we can not control the weather. Most people were happy to see the rain in Toowoomba as we are on level 5 water restrictions and have been for quite some time. Its just a bummer that it only seems to rain when there is a DH race here.

I feel for the rocky boys, I know it's a long way to travel. They did get to ride the track, and by the sounds of it they got a few runs in and rode the track while it was nice and tacky, not dusty and loose like it has been... pretty much forever.

If the club made the call on Sunday morning and it was washed out the club would be out of pocket a few $K for transport. Our club has worn the cost of re-running two races in last two years without any complaint. I did not make the call in fact I have stayed out of the organisation of this race completely but the fella who did made the right decision.
