Do smaller ones first and build up to it. Killing yourself on something too much for you is not cool.....and it might stop you riding for a long time which is also uncool.
Wear your helmet and as much safety gear as you can get!!!!!!!!
First of all, welcome to Farkin, second of all we try to avoid using msn/sms type speak. If I were you I would edit your thread title, mods aren't too crash hot on bad grammar, it doesn't have to be complete queens english, just use full words, capital letters and full stops where needed. As for drops, people will tell you it is all in the mind, focus and don't think about stacking. If you do think about it it is likely you will.
Cheers, Sam:cool:

Try and put it out of your mind. Youl need some speed, if you get scared and go to slowly and stack and depending on how big it is could be bad. Try and land level depending on the slope/grade of the landing

1.hop on bike
2.pedal or roll towards drop
3. go off
4.land ( on bike)
:) that is how to do a drop!!

Theres not a whole lot to drops. You hit the kicker, fly through the air for a second and then hit the landing. No special movements or maneuvers to do like with dirt jumping.
Its just a psychological thing, once you over come the mental block, it will be fine. Just build up to it and you will be a regular Bender in no time.
Joke for the thread: If you want to huck well, buy a Kona :p .
Hey
I just uploaded a pic of the drop, that is my friend doing it thanks

well...
to do a drop is very simple.. anyone can do it.:) You dont even have to get on the bike..
just go to the edge ... and .. "drop" down...
If your on the bike.. roll and just let the bike fall that is dropping in..
Now landing it is a different story.

Thats a pretty bad way of doing things. If there is an ounce of doubt in your mind, don't do it. Thats when you hurt yourself. People tell you to build up to things so you don't tense up mid-air, because thats when you stack and hurt yourself. If you slowly desensitize yourself to the big shit, then you won't care about something a little bit bigger than what you've already done.

I find, whenever you see a slightly possible drop on travel, go look at it from the top to get used to heights, some people get so scared at rooftop height I think getting used to heights definately helps. On the new bike, try a few 4/5 fters first to get used to things then go nuts. It's purely a mental block. What goeson in my head approaching a drop - *Pumpin'! this thing ain't gonna know what hit it* then about 5 metres in to like 2 metres in - *Shit this looks bigger than I thought* 2 mtrs to launch *woooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!*

If you start on smaller ones and find them easy you can just keep building up. Also I wouldn't lean forward to much, that's not fun.

Just hit it. Drops dont take any special movements or anything. The more you think about it the bigger it looks.

Nice drop by the way looks good.
As for hitting it if you are not sure, dont hit it but if you want to go ahead and push your boundries. You feel heaps good about it after.

exactly ;)
After you've done a few scary drops, you'll probably find your own way of getting over the scary part... For me... I tell myself I CAN do it... but I do accept the possibility of me crashing... so I'm ready for it. Be relaxed.... if you're tensed up in the air things go funny and there's a big chance of you crashing.
For me.. If I decide I want to do a drop
I'll check it out
Maybe do a practise run or two.. then sit at the runup for a second... think through it and see myself doing it in my head (successfully) take a couple of breaths and try to relax as much as I can.. and then just say "F**k it" or "Here Goes" and then start pedaling and just try to keep my mind clear and focused on my line/speed and position.
Goodluck ;)

Wear as much safety kit as you can get your hands on and be ready for a stack at some stage, as it WILL happen. If you learn to accept the stacks you won't be so afraid of them and you will be much more focused on your run in.
Safety kit gives us n00bs confidence and protects us if and when we fall.
Good luck, go for it! :)

First don't be an idiot, wear your protective gear. Second vision in your head how your gonna do it from take off to landing and everything in between. Anticipate something goin wrong so your ready to adjust midflight if necassery, but don't conciously think about it or you will stack. Sack up and hit it.

At the risk of sounding like an idiot cos I don't do anything decent
Get your mates to encourage you and push you for it, then you get pumped and go for it
If it's in a run, have a look at it, go to the top of the run and follow one of your mates down who hits it and follow them. You'll feel heaps better if the adrenalines going from all the sections you've already hit on the same run, and you won't think about it as much and just go for it.

Also if you've done a few big ones everything will seem really easy now. Also crashing helps because you realize it's not actually all that bad.

Just go for it i reckon, changes are you'll either land it first try or shit your pants when coming down and stuff the landing. Either way you'll be back to do it for a second time! then you will only get more confident and soon jumps like that will be pus*y sh*t to you!

i agree to this. You firstly need to build your confidence up by doing the small drops then move on to the bigger one's. You will eventually get bigger and better :)
I've said it before and I'll say it again... I hate school holidays.
