Just to clear things up, because my website seems to be playing up in internet exploder
the format
There are 2 tracks they start and finish side by side. You get one timed run on each track and your times are added together to give a total time.
We run both tracks at once Odd numbers down one Evens down the other so you get a dual slalom feel of racing the other rider. Then swap for run 2.
No Shuttles
it is an easy 5min or less to push back up, beside the tracks. By the time you load your bike on a trailer you could be on your way back down.
This of course means:
a No shuttle line
You have complete control over how many runs you get, if you are keen push straight back up and go again, if not have a rest and something to eat, there's no shuttle line so you wont lose your spot.
and
b cheaper entry
$40 for online entry.
$30 late fee for entering on weekend.
No New Entries taken on Sunday
you can pick up your plate on Sunday but if you haven't pre entered or entered on Saturday you're in trouble.
The tracks are a ball of fun. They may not have a nasty rock garden but there is some tricky doubles and off camber corners to sort the good riders from the average.
Close racing
Top 4 riders within .8 seconds at club level. This will be insanely close.
the tracks themselves are close timewise and riders can see each other most of the way down. One track has a faster start the other a faster finish. You come into the finish, look across and see the guy on the other track and it spurs you on even harder.
Compression
Don't forget the Compression premiere at the Workies on Saturday night

Hey flinny,
are there obstacles that would really require a dh bike or you reckon a short dually or even a hardtail would do the trick.?
would a full dh bike set up be a handicap?
I have no idea what the two short tracks look like so i m curious as to what should be ridden.
Let us know or if you have pics of it (or even videos) that would be great.

Current track records for are held by riders on 8"+ bikes. Hard tails are just 6 seconds behind. There is two smallish drops (4-5 foot) and some optional gaps. While there aren't any rock there are some millats (think shallow garves...) with steep sides that suck up the suspension at speed.
There are videos that has some parts of Fordies track in them but they are a little old so I'll endeavor to get some new stuff up.
This one has a bit of Acid bomb mixxed in (the flattish bit following skinny down through the chicains) but has some early Fordies track too. a lot of work as happened since filming it.

because that is what it is costing to put on the race.. We need to hire generators and toilets and all that sort of stuff. if there is anything left over it will go into the prize pool.
If you can make things happen cheaper you are welcome on the committee for the next one.
FFS it cost $30 to enter a state XC and they don't have the pro timing.

It's state forest. you can ride there any time you like, However the exact tracks won't be marked and bunted until race weekend

yeah a whippy short travel bike will be best suited for these tracks... but still the bigger bikes rail the off camber corners a bit harder so its not a bad option.
both the tracks are open but we are still deciding which lines to bunt.
At the top of both tracks there is a A4 sign with the names of the tracks..

just back from the forest everything looking fine.
Hit and miss partly bunted, parts of fordies still left to be done, the track fairies were out there this afternoon doing a fair bit of scratching about, tweaking lines and jumps.
Both tracks are quite fast as the guys had a ride off, Skinny and Darky had a bit lot of fun both finished within seconds of each other.
So it looks that both tracks are about the same time now.
Cant wait until next weekend.:D :D
