Steering Tube?

Hey
Does anyone no if a 210mm steer tube would fit a norco manik currently with drop off triples. The forks are 66rc bombers with 210mm steering tube.

Is it that hard to measure it your self or to look up the head tube length on the Norco website?! And it's called a steerer tube.

you don't know how to use a measuring tape? wow.. kids these days.

1. get the measuring tape.
2. pull the tape out
3. measure from the in between the bottom of the bottom headset cup and the bottom fork crown to the top of your stem.
4. compare it to the other measurement.
5. get a clue.

for the record, 210mm will be sufficient steerer tube for most bikes.

The "proper" way to do it is to take your stem off (loosen topcap + stem bolts), then gently/carefully sliding the forks out (some head set spacer and the alike might fall out so keep an eye on them), then just measure the tube from the top of the crown (where the crown meets the tube) to the top end of the tube.

You could just take the stem off and measure it by using the bottom of the head tube or lower head set cup as the starting end of the steerer tube and do the same (measure from one end to the other).

It might sound complicated but it really isn't, just make sure you keep track of the order everything goes on/in and you should be fine.

It seems to me that sarcasm and the desire to be a smart-arse are taking over around here. The fact is it was a perfectly reasonable question and the poor bloke got his head bitten off. for the record, if your dropoff triple steerer length is a bit longer than the 210mm on the 66s, it shouldnt be a problem as the absence of a top crown will mean you need about 5-10mm less steerer length.

It's just that he made it clear that he didn't know how to measure the frame to tell if his steerer would fit or not... and a lot of folks don't understand stuff that the more experienced members simply take for granted. So I reckon we should cut people a bit of slack that's all. I wasn't meaning to jump on you guys so much as give a friendly reminder that it doesn't hurt to either help or simply ignore the thread.

Of course if it's a total idiot asking a stoopid question in a stoopid way then it's all hands on deck and open season on him/her:) ... but Matt06 was very reasonable.
