hehe... very little technical stuff but there is some of it... its long and bumpy it doesn't really flow too well in some spots coz of the bumps but its more flowy then technical

The Thredbo DH track (aka 'Cannonball Run') is a good mix of everything, open fast sections, tighter, more technical. The only thing about the course would be its overall length (relatively long for a DH track) but dont think thats a bad thing! We've got a chairlift!! . Anyone *thinking* about coming to Interschools, go for it! You dont have to be a super-fast or fit rider to rock up and give it a go, and it should be heaps of fun.
Hopefully I'll catch some of you guys there and go for some DH runs or something :)

Thredbo is the kind of track that speed determine how hard and demanding the track is...if you go balls out oh-my-god-cant-hang-on kinda fast, it can be an absolute cunt, but in a fun way.

Yeah thats it, just cruising, the track is made quite easy - everything is do-able, even for the beginner recreational riders (ie. not racers). Speed/Time is the determining factor in terms of 'difficulty'. Section by section - what may seem like a piece of cake on cruisy line-spotting runs, is pretty different when your pushing as hard/fast as you can, trying to knock that time down by a few seconds.
As 2 smooth said, non-stop fast pace runs mean real punishment, but you get to the bottom thinking "That was nuts! I wanna do it again!... ow my hands hurt..." :wink: Its all good fun

Don't hang on so tight, you won't get arm/hand pump. Keep your shoulders/arms/hands as relaxed as possible.

yeah theres 4x this year and i was just down there 2 days ago and there is no 4x track at the moment so they could be doin sum thing and i think they might make the dh track more tech now because they are building a full beginners track.

a week of practice... make sure you take plenty of spare parts and if you can, plenty of painkillers. I can guarantee that your bike will be fucked after 3 days riding there, so 7 could be brutal!!

you must've had very soft compound pads because last interschools i spent 3 days riding there and then the race and my brake pads have lasted since then until about december so i dunno how you wore them out so quickly

Yep, sure was. 1 of the 3 Tumut High School crew who all fucked up :lol: but still were in a little block on the results sheet within a few seconds of each other... just moved down a bit from where we'd normally be haha (One crash -me-, one flat tyre -matt-, and another crash -luke- ). Hopefully this year's race runs go smoothly..

EDIT: yeah national round was the 'short' track, just the top of the fire-road cut out.. which isnt much time-wise lol :) The weather/track conditions at the state round mostly made for the relatively slower times (across all of the riders)

yea division 1 apparently do the whole track and division 2 go from the end of the 1st fire trail then division 3 goes from like half way or more down.... its run like any other race.... you go up the hill and line up, they count down... 30,10,5,4,3,2,1 then GO and then your off... that what u wanted to know ?
