I have a some ideas of places I would like to go when I go on holidays and would like to know if taking your MTB is a worth while idea or would you just hire one? Surely there would be a few people here that have done this or attempted? I for one would like to take mine with me as it would kind of feel special rather then just hiring one where ever I go.
Thoughts?

I have brought a bike from whistler to sydney last year. All you need to do is put it in a bike boz slightly dissasembled and check it in as oversized luggage and it shouldnt cost you anything if it is on an overseas flight. Domestic im not sure. If you want to get a special travel bag then I can put you in contact with someone who manufactures them.

Thankyou for the reply, thats some handy information :)
it depends where youre going and for how long?
In places like whistler and vancouver you can hire good quality bikes but they are rather expensive but then you dont have the hassle if anything breaks and keeping them maintained, however if your going for more then a week id consider bringing your own.

bigfoot bike bags are genrally pretty good, don't quote me on this but from memory they cost around $400 for a soft case and $800 for a hard case.
