View Full Version : Damn Bones (OMG its almost fixed)
Today (23 Jan) I was dirt jumping, as you do, and I had a little stumble. I rolled around the ground a bit and waited for the pain to go away. We drove 1.5 hrs to the doctors to find that I have broken my left shoulder in two spots.

It’s quite sore to move and I don’t recommend anyone breaking shoulders.
Hopefully I’ll be back on the bike in a couple of months.
For all you msn users, im typing with one hand, so dont talk too fast

i just don't seem to break, i ragdoll firetrails and fall of the sides of trails regularly and all that happens is i get sore as hell and cut like a grapefruit in a blender set to pulp, i don't know what i'd have to do to snap my shoulder in half, a jackhammer springs to mind.

dude that sucks harsh... i busted my arm and am trying to heal that and get the shoulder back working... it's tough I'm not gonna lie cuz ur not supposed to move your shoulder for a while, which doesn't help the muscles any...
but welcome to the club... you can complain to me, I'm always up for a good broken bones whining event!
anyone got any tips for sleeping?? it fukin hurts and is uncomfortable... :(
this is my first break..... i usually ragdoll etc but nothing NORMALLY breaks.... i do drink litres of milk every day 8)

I slept in a chair for 2 months (doc's orders - because it was easier to keep the shoulder in place)... you don't even notice if it's hard to sleep in a chair or not cuz:
1. you're gonna wake up from pains no matter what
2. they give you pain meds
The only other thing was that when i got to sleep in my bed again i had to gradually get to lying down on my back, so side sleeping is kinda out for a while... sometimes putting a smaller/flatter pillow under your shoulder helps it from falling backwards too...
that's all i got... hope something works, cuz i knwo it sucks and it sucks more when you're really tired and in pain.
ive tried the back, the side and the front and none work for me...
it looks like the chairs the best bet
if you are getting enough sleep lying down stay with it, you may wake up alot but aslong as you are getting rest it's good. I would go to the chair if you found yourself not getting enough sleep or waking up in more pain etc.
come to hursty!!!

yeah the chair isn't fun, but i was there doc's orders. I would never have been able to lie down! I tried i screamed i listened to the doctor... :( It's not as bad if you have a good comfy lazy-boy recliner or something!

I found a couple of scotches to wash down the meds helped me sleep. I reckoned it relaxed the muscles arond the break.
Though try to avoid getting falling down drunk for a couple of weeks. Falling down ain't a lotta fun when you already gotta broken bone.
Oh, and typing with one hand suxs! I keep on accidentally reaching for the keyboard with my other hand. Ouch!
PS. If you are under legal age, ignore me. I don't wanna get in trouble with your mamma.

NICE! the fun will be moving your elbow! :) I was in a sling for a while and found that your elbow won't straighten after, so ya do some physio but i swear it comes back quick! The shoulder can take longer but the quicker the bone heals up the quicker they let you start to move it and the sooner youget to move it, the less a pain in the ass physio is!
yay for the no sling! pathetically, it's one of the greatest days you get when you're hurt!
BUT.... im going to wear the sling just incase...
