Its what happens when the internet replaces a persons 'social life' - their human interaction abilities and the size of their ego are measured by their broad band exchange size.

Don't give a fat rat's clacker about it being the internet. It's a matter of having respect for the people you're expecting to read your posts. PLUS... this is a PRIVATELY owned and run and paid for site and the boss lays down certain rules as to the standards he expects. Don't like it? Then go elsewhere... but in the mean time no... both you and DJ can get over it.

.

I can't work out whether you're looking to get yourself kicked out of here or not. Why can't you simply accept that there are standards around here and that it's NOT up to you to decide what they are or how they're applied? I would have thought that was pretty simple but you obviously want to push some agenda.

Bottom line is if you don't like those standards and rules... go elsewhere. I'm happy to ban your arse if that's what you want.

You’re a fuckwit mate; piss off if your gona annoy Grip. He is one of the nicest guys on hear and im pretty sure he is probably better rider then you. if you want to have fun with an admin PM “Johnny”, “demo man” or “S.” those guys are really friendly and im sure they will make you have respect for the site

Look, I have been pretty straight forward here. I think I have a valid argument if you don't agree with me that's fine. You have administrational power i dont so if you feel it necesarry to ban me so be it. Life goes on and all the best.

Hopefully Dave will get a chance to PM me before that happens so I can hook him up with a DW100 ticket.

No, you haven't just been "straight forward here" at all. You've been pissy, arguementative and a smartarse... and all that despite the VERY simple fact that this site has certain standards that people are expected to adhere to. That was explained to you in a very clear way and yet you continued to be a smartarse and resorted to name calling. It seems to me you don't like those standards. Bad luck. It also seems to me that you think you have the right to decide what standards are important and which ones are not. You don't. Now is THAT clear to you?

And don't do the whole pathetic little boy thing of saying "boo-hoo, you have admin powers and I don't therefore I HAVE to give in". You're right... I do have "admin powers", but you don't have to give in at all. You can continue to be pissy and arguementative all you like, but you'll just have to find another forum to do it on.

Thanks nomis, maybe back in the stone age when I wasn't so fat, when I still had balls and when I still had knees that worked... maybe back then I was a decent rider, but now I'm just a bike-path hack afraid of crashing off a gutter.:o

the guy typed 'o' instead of 'of'. did you seriously not understand his sentence?

you and others, for eg, grip, make a wonderful contribution. [/sacasm]

if i am chatting to someone who mis-pronounces a word but i know what they mean, I don't point out their faux pa' because it is pointless, uber uptight and i think it may make them feel bad. this, i would have thought, was a common courtesy/ RESPECT. (hey ironic isn't it grip?? who claims it is a matter of respect that people spell in a satisfactory manner.) i can't think of any reason to comment on spelling/ grammar, in the case that the message has actually been conveyed, other than to make someone feel bad and hence in a tiny pathetic way, yourself feel bigger/ better.

So, for my benefit, what is the value???????

in my view, the only word the spelling Nazi needs to recognise is WANKER.

- standard spelling/ grammar disclaimer applies.

I too am sick of people jumping on backs for slight spelling errors.
Also people saying this has been discussed before, go search.
Then people saying gravedig when you went and searched like told to.
Relax, its sposed to be a friendly place, not a nazi state.

umm... when you are talking to someone you have the luxury of their tone to assist in the interpretation of what they are saying, if they mispronounce something you can usually fill it in quite easily. furthermore, pointing out such an error would be petty because they are speaking to you live.

on the internet we dont have the luxury of knowing what tone you are speaking in and so if its written in an unfamiliar way it could mean any number of things to different people. also, given that you have the ability to proof read everything you say on the internet it is definitely curtious to take the time to consider if others will understand you, particularly when you are looking for help.

no one is asking for flawless spelling, punctuation and grammar, only that you make an effort to be easily understood by those from whom you seek help.

All the best,
FARKIN.NET Forums

it seems bagging out another member's spelling ( i'm sure this guy was deliberately adding a personal touch to his post and not incapable of spelling the word 'of')is not an insult but having a rant culminating in a personal view of another user's character is. maybe a list of perenial offenders (spelling nazis)would have been more appropriate but this particular 'call' on spelling was as offenssive and unnecessary as i have ever witnessed on this particular forum.

i wonder if blantant abuse of moderating capacity could be considered insulting to me.......hmmmmmmm.

don't get me wrong, a hard to read post is a pain. if i don't understand the post i just move on to the next post. same for boring/ long winded posts. i never see anyone post 'hey man, no boring posts allowed' or 'dude, no-one is interested' or ' fella, i can't concentrate long enough to read your post' what is the anal obscession with spelling??????? is it it just the cheap shot value????? easy points, feel better already.

i never post with capital letters.......i think that makes things hard to read. (it is old school email etiquette). why has that never been 'called'?????

Oh for fuck's sake! This has been said a thousand times before and we're sick of it.

This has NOTHING to do with spelling mistakes... It is ONLY to do with wanting people to put a bit of EFFORT into their posts. Everyone makes mistakes... we don't give a shit about mistakes.... GOT IT?

And we are NOT promoting spelling Nazism. We can't help it if OTHER members do it, but the mods/admins themselves RARELY jump on people's spelling alone. However we often (and will contiunue to) jump on people who demonstrate a total lack of effort and respect when posting.

Get over it. That's it. If you don't like it go elsewhere!
