Hey guyz,
wanna replace some crap Axiom bmx cranks or wateva.

So tell me, what makes these cranks so "crap"?

Mine have been to hell and back, and they are still as good as they were the day I got them!

Keep 'em till you break 'em!
If you don't like the colour of them, just take the paint off and polish them up, then you can pretend you have profiles if you like.

Profile Race, enough said, not as expensive as some people will lead you to believe if using a American/bmx BB.

Profile Race, enough said, not as expensive as some people will lead you to believe if using a American/bmx BB. if you only own one set of cranks in your lifetime, you want them to be profiles. failing that luftalarms are tres nice and i'm thinking about them as a swap between for my mtb and my bmx.

Axiom/DMR/Diamondback/We The People/Liquid - all those generic looking tubular 3 piece come from the FSA factory. They're pretty much the same cranks.

Go Profiles.

I think the point he's trying to make is that they're all just re-badged FSA cranks, not that they're all the 'same' cranks.

I got race profiles on my bmx, can't bend the mofo's and they have been through a hell of a lot through the 3 or so years I have had em :)

I wouldn't bother with the SS cranks unless you are busting backflips over 40 foot doubles :)

Profile Race cranks with a regular BMX bottom bracket are $349 retail. You should be able to get them cheaper though.

profiles give you lifetime warranty...any company that is big enoguh to say the you WILL NOT break them had got to have something going for it...they aren't too bad on the cost side either. nuf said.

Profile have an unconditional warranty? I was under the impression that they just had the same warranty that everyone else gives, which is against defects in workmanship and materials, NOT breakage; it's important to distinguish between the two.

Odyssey however do have an unconditional warranty on their 41 thermal cranks; they're Profile compatible I believe too...

erm..i think its enough of the arguement on the warranty of profiles.
so far how many have yet to break a set of profile ss?or rather say .profiles racing cranks?over the years ,so many pple are using profiles over many other choice of crmo cranks.and how bout a comparison over the ratio of breakage on profiles to others(wethepeople, dmr, etcetcetc)????

04-02-2004, 11:47 AM

I just thought it was quite funny you recommended Snafu and Black Widow cranks.

ally cranks are for twitts... go cromo.. ally just isnt as durable as cromo. your mates snafu's might be ok for now, but when he pounds them a little more (if he does ride them hard) they wont last long..

Wombat - it depends on which Profile crank. If it's the race crank, they will replace it if there is no signs of street/skatepark abuse (grind damage). DJ's and SS are unconditional.

i know a few dudes that have totalled profiles... nothing is unbreakable... some are just easier than others...

I'm interested in the Felt 2pce cranks they have now, anyone seen them? They look very shmick, but I haven't heard about any real-life use yet.
