Ryno i understand what you are doing and that you want a track in Kensington.

Is is wrong to assume that you live in Kensington, because i do.

Im not sure how old you are, but as you get older you start to realise certain social problems exist and how other problems can develop as a result. As a resident of this area I certainly DO NOT want a BMX track in our suburb. With the installation of a track like this, not only will we have a place to ride, but we will also have to deal with all the negativities of having a facility nearby. Problems such as drug dealing, bike thefts and mugging will develop i can gurantee you. This may not be perpetrated by people that live in the area, but others that come from around adelaide to ride/loiter/hangout at.

I dont want to act like a stuck up richy rich, but you may have noticed that the said suburb is occupied by a more affluent demographic of families and elderly/retirees.

I dont think that they would take to kindly to having something like this constructed and causing possible land value damage due to 'unwelcome' behavior at the track.

Id like to hear your response too and im not having a go at you either. I just dont think kensington is the place to have a track. Keep it to the city and wide open parklands.

Well for people like me the City jumps are really far away same with Hackam so it's good having jumps closer by that are properly made

But i see were you are coming from kizza seeing alot of locals around there are in there late stages of life, when all of A sudden A bmx track is built there and alot of kids are turning up making a mess of the place.

I can see what your saying sketchy. But i just dont see it fitting in with the neighbourhood. I would like nothin more than to ride 2 mins to dirtjumps, but after i see how the waterfall gully track gets treated, im very reluctant to support any bike riding facility in my area.

It sounds hypocritical that i ride in other places yet wont have it in my area, but i just dont want the associated problems that come with a so called "xtreme sport'', i.e all the "hardcores" etc.

keiren i kind of see where your comin from but seriously a track in this area would be a good thing i was thinking about it today and any form of exposure/facility towards bikers doesnt go astray in growing our sport. plus its a wealthier area where parents are willing to spend money on bikes for there kids. i honestly reckon its a great idea and will sign it

I dont doubt that it will make kids better riders and give exposure, albeit not very much, but can you not see the associated social problems? I will not walk through that park at night because of the druggies/dealer and homosexuals (not being derogetory). To add a bmx track will add kids into an already not nice place. Apart from the problems aleady there, IT WILL attract trash of the litter and human kind and make an already dodgy night time place even worse.


Believe it on not Fergus, there are a lot of drop kicks in this area, just because mummy n daddy have money, doesnt mean their kids play nice. I know this because ive lived in kensington for 17 years.

I think the benefits are way shadowed by the negatives.

Well news in seeing were speaking about petitions, resentaly one of my mates has put in a word to the council for There to be a Park with proply made Dirt jumps being built around in Tea Tree gully SA
So when i get more info about it ill post up something for signing a petition.

what park do they have in mind i no there is some dodgy people in the area but there are people like that everywhere and if we can get more kids to get into the sport then hopefully they will stay away from being gangstas

Unfortunatly they are talking about the Kensington Park on the parade. I cant see anywhere else to put it.

Yeah where the Kensi cricket club is and the grass court tennis etc.

i wont be voting for it. Just build some hidden jumps somewhere.

Thats what im saying, it wouldnt be ideal. Uh. I just wont vote for it. At the end of the day, the rate payers will get the final say on the project in their suburb.

its a good idea and all. I live up in the barossa so i dont know how bad kensington area is, just tht we are better at cricket. In gawler (which isn't even tht bad) in the holidays you cant stay after 5pm coz all the gangs rock up and they have wrenches n metal poles.

I dont think how many signatures u get will make much of a difference, ecause in the real world either the counsil will like it or they wont. If there is a track within about 1/2 ride hour track they wont see ur side of the story.

Which there is. There are some dirt jumps on Sudholz Rd in Paradise, which is well under a 30min ride.
The money could be far better spent fixing up those jumps and making them better. And hell, putting in a couple of poles so smacktards in 4x4s cant decide to use them as a test track (and get bogged).

I have herd that they are going to fix up the paradise jumps but i dont no what fix up means because they could make them crap..
