nah it has really dirt jump-oriented geometry - it feels raked out even with the pikes on 140mm. 150 or 170mm from 66s would be waaay too much travel

awesome, mate. i seriously couldnt be happier. i have never had as much fun riding DH as i did on it on sunday. soo much better than the norco IMO. just needs a shorter stem and a softer spring for me, other than that it was awesome.

polished MTX? ew.. no way in hell.
the rims have been pretty good, only put 2 tiny flat spots in the rear rim, and toowoomba is a really rocky track.

Angus (big-dropper), i should probably also mention how impressed i was with the Lopes tyres - i've only run one on the front of my HT in the past, but i thought they were awesome on sunday. 2.35 bling blings at tbah, and i didnt wash out once (there was plenty of intentional drift, though :p). they had heaps of cornering grip and plenty of straightline speed. great tyres if you can get your hands on some.

hmmn, I'll second that by saying it was the most fun bike I ever owned.. Mate post up some action pics if you got em. Also whack up some pics of the bike once your build is complete. Ben

ben ill find a couple of action pics for you, the build has started to slow as the HT is getting some more attention :p
have to qualify my last post (RE: lopes tyres) by saying that despite being good in the dry at toowoomba, they SUCKED in the wet at kennilworth on sunday.. 50 metres into the track and they were so clogged with mud that i had no traction whatsoever. might have to be solely dry weather tyres i think

my tires were cloged on the first run down, and they were minions, i hate to think what it was like on lopes tires leitch

...totally agree. The Lopes work well in dry conditions, esp over hard pack or rocks.. they even seem alright in dry sandy conditions.. I found I could maintain a controlled drift on them.. but in mud, uh-uh. Nup, they sucked.. but they dont suck as hard as Larssen in mud.. they turn into slicks.
