hey, just wondering what people think about the Fly Ruben sig pedals?
I was thinking about getting them and just wondered what they are like.
How does the weight of them compare to other pedals?
Cheers.

hi !!
Yeah im running a pair. Weight is unbelivible ! They feel like a feather compared to my old jim'cs. They have a huge platform, which I like as I am huge. Easy to take apart and service. Super slim profile.
I love my fly rubens.
But they are a pedal some people love.. and a pedal some people hate. You pretty much just gotta have a ride on some to see if you like the feeling.
Hope this helps
I havent tried them, but I'ver heard they are good. They are sposed to be very grippy. They aren't THE lightest though.

Yeah they are real grippy pedals.
Lighter than:

eastern
hoffman
odyssey jim cielencki's
primo mags
ringle zuzu
s&m
Shadow
And well yeah their lighter than most other good pedals.

50% Heavier than mine :p
(I have Wellgo MG-1s with Ti axles , 150g/side, actually about 145g with the aluminium pins fitted - but they're a ridiculous example).
The Rubens are nice pedals though, quality build, good weight. Can't go far wrong.

how do they handle street abuse?
fair expensive pedal, so you'd want them to last!

$155 on strictlybmx.com
doesnt seem that expensive in comparision to other bike parts, but my pedals take an absolute beating, so it seems a bit steep for myself.

Is anybody able to tell me just how wide these pedals are in relation to other mtb pedals, especially dmr v8's. I have big feet and need a wide pedal.

Alot wider.
I had v12's, then got fly's. Fly's are alot wider.

Yeah but you take a pedal grind or something with MG-1s and you're gonna be ripping pins out like no other. Only really made for trail riders and more flow styled skate park riders, hardly last on the streets.

Well you could just take all the pins out on one side and or put grind plates on.

Defeats the purpose of having light pedals...
+It is more hassle and less grip.

Yeah well my Animals pritty much have no pins on the right hand pedal; but even if you where to remove pins on the MG-1s, you got any idea how bloody quick they'd wear down to nothing? Give it a couple ledges and you'd have little to no pedal left.

Oh I understand that. They're on my STP0 in fact. I just wanted to note that they're really stupidly light, because thats cool :p
Trust me when I say they will not get ground on anything.
As I noted earlier Rubens are a great pedal with a VERY decent weight for their strength and materials.Highly recommended.
