Although the name may not sound mtb related, i saw one of these down at the beach today and it strangely reminded me of someone pumping some dj's, whilst also having a slight resemblance to a bike. I'm interestesed in the physics involved behind this but its too hard to explain so ill let the video do the talking: http://www.jumpusa.com/aquaskipper.html
Looks hell fun to me, especially out in the surf :D

I seriously doubt it would work in the surf. Its too light and skinny, might break and would get buffed around too much

Off Topic much?

Anyway it looks kinda fun but I wouldn't fancy hitting waves on it.

I reckon it needs foot loops. Or someway of securing your feet so you can pump harder.

I saw it on behond tomorrow too and they said it was really easy to use and not much of a work out... i dont remember it being in the waves though. I probably forgot

I saw someone on it today, in the surf, so yes it works there. but otherwise i just thought the action used in propelling it looked like someone on a pump/4x track pumping around. thats why i thought i might put it in general mtb. honestly i reckon you could have a lot of fun with that, perhaps getting towed to get some more speed, then hitting waves and doing whips, perhaps even backies!~! (probably not, but hey, i'd give it a go)

EDIT: yep, they use it on waves: http://youtube.com/watch?v=lQW3wWesaqQ&mode=related&search=

Ok you win its obviously quite competent in the waves but i still wouldnt be too keen on it in big surf judging by the way the fins bend when they are yout of the water...
