I love my street riding and I love jumping and riding up and down stairs. for some reason my back tyre keeps popping everytime I try to go upstairs? Is there anyway to prevent this? apart from the obvious reason? this has already happened 3 times!

does anyone know what is happening?

Well I fucking wonder why....

You + ~30KM/H speed + vertical concrete steps - bunny hop = popped tire and flatspotted rim.

What did you think was going to happen....if you ride at something really fast, pull up the front wheel and let the rear wheel bash into the vertical, concrete object...its a bit fucking obvious.

you should put more air in your tires so you don't get pinch flats, and also learn to bunnyhop

oh my god, you still dont get it, bikes are just not ment to be riden up stairs, simple... dont do it and your tire wont get poped, but if you wont mind buy a tube every day and fixing it then keep riding up stairs

oh and if you are going to keep riding upstairs i sugest you to not run super low tyre pressures, you will put flat spots in rim or even crack it

Meh i manage to ride up stairs fine, but thats because i learned from personal failure how to ride up them properly. i bet you just charge at them and assume the bike will take the punishment.

Well thats a usefull comment, he is asking for advice and you tell him you can do it but not tell him? Sure he is abit of a twit in asking the question but if you have the answer apart from don't do it (which he has already addresed) then wouldn't it be logical to just answer it?
So please enlighten us oh great one.

Run min 60psi in your tires for riding street. Always try to hop up the stairs, that way even if you do mistime/misjudge the hop your weight & momentum will be heading up so the back wheel won't cop the full force of the hit.

Dual ply tyres will help a bit, but if your just bashing into stairs then I dont think much will help. Try some of the suggestions listed above.

Run 60+ PSI in your tires if you have to, and don't just throw your bike against the stairs. Absorb with your body.

hey

Do u know how to ride a bike, bikes dont go up stairs!!!!
even if u want to go up stairs u jump, that means getting both wheels off the ground. Any tire will pop, and any rim will bend if u ram it straight into a step.
Learn to bunnyhop up things and ur bike and ur wallet will not suffer

All good ideas but i would recomend puting a old tube cut in half over your tube and running them at higher pressure but I cant see how you would get your jolys over riding up some stair:confused:.

Yeah you have to suck it up basically and kind of skim. I weigh 95kg and can float shit that pops other people's tubes, and I'm rolling folding beads and maxxis flyweights, its a matter of technique.

i saw a clip of someone doing a stairgap backwards(upwards), cant remember where but i saw one so its definetly possible to hit stairs fast, just the technique
