hey guys I have a few questions about the wonderfull range of protectors....(upper body armour to be specific) supplied by 661

after doing a search i found nothing that helps me so now i turn to you guys..................and girls(lets not forget the ladies)

i was wondering if anyone has prices for the 661 defender?
or if you guys have any legit reasons why i shouldn't look at it i'm open to suggestions and prices of other armour such as the 661 pressure suit or some dianese stuff??

i kinda wanna get some dianese but it looks like it'd just get too hot as well as the pressure suit any input about that will ber great too ....
sorry for the long winded post but i gotta ask or i'll never learn right???

if you can give prices as well if you suggest a diff armour that'd be sweet .

cheers and thanx..

oh and also ....so no one yells at me i'll be riding tails,dh,dj and as many drops as i can find.........

You are sooooooooooo off the mark with thinking Dainese is hot. It is the so so so well ventalted.

I got a dainese safety jacket next, which is an awsome suit. You feel almost bullet proof in it

Also what sort of stature are you, cause I'm kinda looking at selling it. It's a Medium. I'm 6'2" and resonably lanky.

Let me know if you're interested.

I think the 661 defender is roost deflecting armour, isn't it? Roost armour is shithouse for mtb. It's designed to protect moto-x racers from the debris that gets kicked up by other riders. Soemthing like the pressure suit is designed to protect you from the impacts you might incur when you fall off the bike and hit stuff. You might look tuff wearing roost armour, but it's a joke for mtb.

I dont agree. I've been wearing a MTX roost type armour, (simmilar to the 661 defender) and in my oppinion its saved me where I think something like a shuttle suit would not have. I think if I was wearing a normal pressure type suit I would have definatley broken my collar bone. It was the different type of shoulder protection that really helped. (Mesh that sits on the shoulder and hard plastic that sits about 1 inch above it.) Because of that clearence (from the mesh to the hard plastic) it gave a better cushion when I went shoulder first into a tree at Buller.

The only down side that I've found has been that it slaps a bit when its straight onto the skin, but i just wear it over a tshirt. No probs!

If you already have the knee/shin and the elbow/forearm then go for the defender for sure!

i say this for no reason other than to add a bit of fuel to this fire.....
a very knowledgeable guy in a very respectable MX shop told me today that roost armour wasn't even worth it for people on moties... Dainese was the be all and end all...

any sorta plastic on your body when you're riding is gonna make it warmer... but so what? it's saving your ass right!

anyways, i've got the dainese shuttle... saved me many a times. Now dainese is more expensive (I found a sale) but it's definitly the best fitting for me. The pressure suits are nice as well. I'm not a big fan of the roost stuff... i mean sure it'll prolly help but i've never seen it tight to the body and really do you want armour to slide around? yikes...

I dunno if there are store in your area that stock armour but try to try some on, they don't all fit the same and they are sized as well...! Or if you have friends, try on their stuff. Hell make friends and try on their stuff!

I have a Dainese Pro Air suit (top half) and it is awesome.
I wore it for 2 days straight doing runs with the guys in 35 degree heat, it never got too warm as it is well ventilated and is suprisingly comfortable.

I would recomend either the dainese top half suit or the 661 pressure suit over anything else, especially Moto X stuff.
