There is so many options out there in that price range its not funny. You've got Giant, Norco, Specialized ect. ect. ect.

The best thing to do if you have no clue is to go to your LBS and try out what they have got. Its very important to pick a LBS that you think will do a good job and you trust. If you dont your gears, brakes, and such will never work as well as they should. For example a well tuned $1500 bike will work better than a badly put together $2000 bike.

I actually own a STP 0 and I think its sweet. Alot of people dont like them cause there common or whatever but it comes down to what you like.

Giant STP 0 or GT Ruckus Dj, both great DJ BIkes. Look at the Norco Shore HT range if you are more into freeride.

Cheers, Sam

kona have a pretty good range
but if u have $2000 then make sure you get the right geometry in the frame

get a cromolly frame. its way stronger, absorbs bumps, and lasts a hell of a lot longer. but yeah, its fully best to just go test some bikes and get what feels best to you.

or you could have some fun while your at it and put a bike together, get the parts you want to make it perfect for you, and its easy enough to stay in that price range and still build an awesome bike

i say the best way is to buy a quality frame such as the NS range, LAST, 24 etc. I've had an stp and a norco 250 and they just were very good. they're never the way you want them to be. i don't see the point of spending 2k on an STP when u could bulid up an awesome bike for 2k . lotss of people are selling quality frames in good condition for under 600. you should easily be able to build a rad bike for under 2k
