Bike started its life at 44lbs. Getting it down to 38.18 was a pretty involved task. As you can see most parts have been switched out for lighter items. The wheelset came in under 1750 grams. They also save a bunch of weight in the tubeless kit as you use a thin tape and ust type valve, no need for the stans strip. Tyres also save quite a bit and seem to ride quite nice so far. The 34T/11 Gearing has been adequate for the riding the bike sees, and as a bonus offers a bunch of clearance.

I went a little crazy in places, like the front spokes which are bladed DT spokes designed for roadies- at $6.50 a pop, they hurt the pocket. Theres also some Ti bolts in the shock mounts and switching the gammut bolt saved around 15 grams. I even ditched the lockon grips to save 50g. Good thing we are in drought. Haha.

Its all a little stupid really, the rims will probably die quickly and I'll ditch the grips the first sign of rain- time will tell. The bike does ride a bunch lighter and feels amazing. I've been too busy to ride it much recently, so hopefully this will inspire the riding demons..

17.31kg. :)

Bike will stay like this for a while, will look at what 08 has in stock, if norco doesn't come up with much I may look at a lighter frame. Who knows...

Really nice bike! Wouldn't the logical next step be to get some boxxer wc's? That would minus another few 100g's surely over the 888? The 888's do look great though.

I had a boxxer on last years bike..

www.dirtclowns.com/newnorco.jpg

It was great, might still go that way. I'm sort of hoping RS have beefed up the 08 boxxer though. The 888 is a bunch stiffer and you can really notice it after coming off the boxxer. The small bump compliance on the 888 is great too. So ridiculously smooth.

Haven't done the math on the fork swap, anyone got real weights?

That is one sweet looking ride. Maybe you could give everyone a future update on the durability of all those tricky bits.

We had our fusion World Cup bikes down to 36lbs flat last year, and we were running heavier forks (RC40), spokes and Chain Devices (MRP) than this year. This year's ride will use Boxxers, Cane Creek DB, and Gamut and it has a slightly lighter frame set (80grms) despite using stronger tubing.... We are aiming at sub-36lbs. The guys just tested it in Italy at a National round and took First, third and fourth (with third and fourth cruising down with flats)

You could still save some more weight without comprimising the peformance of the bike by switching brakes.

The base model Formula ORO K24 is considerably lighter than a Juicy Ultimate/Code set-up (around 100g saving without rotors, around 120g-130g with rotors) and thats not even the lightweight version of the Formula ORO brake.

Bike looks sweet though! My favourite Norco for sure!

Howd you get the bike to stand up in the first picture though?

I'd like to try some formular brakes, but I've been very happy with the power of the codes, they handle the heat very well too. They are also well supported here, which is great. Don't forget the blades, mine have the carbon levers- and there are alloy backed pads coming next year. Not to mention the sunn frames, which you still don't have a price for me BJ :P

I'd like to see some pics of these fusions GDonehue.

It's good to see another downhiller using Middleburns, they are a very under rated crank set.

Shit. And to think it could easily be about 16.5 with Boxxer world cups, hope floating rotors, avid 5/7 calipers, 25.4 bars ect.

Looks mint mate, very impressed on it's weight and general appearance, shmick!

Our 2006 Racebike pretty much bacme the 2007 Model for fusion (shown). The changes for this year are obviously the suspension (Boxxer WC and Cane Creek - eventually) and the tires (Now Kenda) - but it is pretty similar otherwise. I should have 2007 team bike photos on Friday as Fraser Britton from Trascend is bunking with us in Vigo.
