Driving through Katherine in the Northern Territory on our Central Australia camp we hit an eagle that decided to dart out of a tree on a 110KM/H highway. It was a magnificent black eagle of some flavour with a wingspan of probably a metre and a bit, luckily it wasn't killed as it only hit the side mirror, but I'd say it got a fright!

Whats worse is that this bus was sort of double decker, driver sits down stairs and then the top is all seats with a huge window seat at the front, which is where I was sitting so I got a nice view....:eek: .

Wait until you see one go through someone's fairing screen and helmet visor at a similar speed - pretty nasty, surprisingly common (especially at Phillip Island)
