I was just wondering if there was any point in putting a DRS on my hardtail. I loose the chain from time to time and it's givin' me the shits.
Will an adjustment on the front deraileur solve the problem?
Are chainguides only for duallys and people only running single rings on the front?
Cheers
a DRS should work really well on your hardtail
it is designed to take 2 rings and a bashguard (which comes with the drs)
chainguides can be fitted on hardtails

If you want a chainguide on your bike, well, Hell no ones stopping you; Heaps of hardtails come OEM with a guide of some sort. And yes a properly calibrated front mech may help stop dropping the chain but it's not going to completely fix the problem. And finally, yes, a DRS would be a fine choice ;)

i have a chain guide on my hard tail and dual rings on my dually, the front deraileur can be used to help prevent the chain coming off by adjusting the high low screw settings, my chain guide never came in on time for my recent race. i put the front deraileur back on and wound the screws in till the gap between the chain ring and shifter was small enough so the chain wouldnt fall off. worked great! just remember not to pedal backwards
if your still using both make sure you can change between the small and big ring after adjusting, you should be able to adjust the gap with the cable adjustment screws on the shifter.
also are you running a bash guide??

Thanks for the answers guys. I am running a bashy at the moment, I just wanted to make sure that a chainguide would actually do something, other than look good, on my bike. I wasn't sure if it was something that was only needed when dealing with chain growth etc.

when i was trying to take my front derailler of and failed,i just fiddled with the placement of it ,so that now whenever the chain comes off,the derailler acts as a guide and puts it right back on,didnt cost me a cent either:D
however it does take two rotations of the cranks to get it back on,but my chain is tight enough so that it rarely comes off, only when i badly case the dj:D

The other problem is that sometimes the chain falls down and gets caught between the ISCG mounts and the inner chainring, it jams up the cranks and they won't move at all. I'm guessin that this will not happen when there is a chain guide bolted to the mounts.

Hey i have a blackspire dewlie chainguide on my Sasquatch. Basically the same thing, dual ring chainguide however the E-13 DRS would be even better than the Blackspire i think. Since i bought the blackspire i haven't looked back, best money i ever spent. I used to drop chains all the time and now everything's great, chain stays on.
