hello fellow farkiner's help is needed.
want to upgrade my cranks on my 4X bike
there are a few ideas as i want so ive set up a pole.
im after a crank that is good quality, hallowtech, light yet strong, im reasonable smooth but s**t happens, the bike wont really be used for full on DH but the occasional run is still on the cards as well as dirt jumping
budget is about $400 maybe a bit more
if you can think of any others that should e up there let me know
cheers Adrian

your poll isnt showing, mate.
the only ones worth looking at are hone or XT - saint are too heavy and anything from other brands is laughable, really. the only thing i would say is if you intend to use your bike for any DH at all, dont go XTs... i've seen multiple sets bend.

I'd go for the XT's. There light, strong and farily well priced. A few people i know have them on there 4x bike and have had no problems to date.

Saint are actually lighter than a Holzfeller setup. The Holzfeller arms are lighter, sure enough, but their BB is absolute death at ~400 grams.
Some of the Avent racing BMXs come with Saint, so they must be light enough.
I definately noticed the difference when I switched from Holzfeller to Saint. When I can afford it, I'll definately sell the Holzfellers off my new bike to buy Saints, no question.

saints are certainly lighter than holzefeller, yes.. but. i didnt compare them to holzefeller ;) i compared them to hones and XTs, over which saints are significantly heavier.

I'm using Stylo's and they're the cats pyjamas. Stiff and light. Planning on running them on the DH bike in the not to distant future. IMO Saints are too heavy.
Shimano Hone M601 (double).
Lighter than saint, only 25g heavier than XT and has steel pedal inserts, steel pedal washers, and chromo spindle like saints.
Couldn't recommend them more highly, i'd rate them as the best all round heavy-use crank for 68/73mm BB bikes.

did some searching and found the weights of most of the cranks.
XT 860g
Saint 1100g
evolve 1207g
Atlas 995g
Hones 928g
Stylo approx 880g

+1 for Middleburns, I've got them on my DH & Trials bike, the ones on my DH are 5+ years old now.
Super light and super strong.
