ok i dont know why but every time someone sees my bike they say thatd be so sweet with discs, adn im like why? i like vee brakes, i mean really... they are sweet when set up right... i have thought about getting disks, and i dunno maybe one day, but they just dont scream out at me, is anyone here in farkin land like me?
oh yeha feel free to say why your discs kick ass aswell, i would like to know just incase in the future discs interest me, but yeah
vee's rule
Your bike would go great with discs.
I don't think it matters, just ride what feels most comfortable to you.
I think most vee brakes are working better than my discs at the moment, bike is in pieces so i cant test them yet. but yeah, it is just personal preference. I know I'd want discs because i do a bit of dh, just better stopping power imo.
Damnit, I want new pads or something :P!
Marketing mate...
just like so many other good products, left behind because people love new stuff.
V's are so simple, light, powerful, and have great feel IMO. Not much beats them for most people. But, unfortunately, discs are the latest and greatest.
I get customers thinking I'm some sort of bodgy sales guy because I'd rather sell them a bike with V's instead of D's, but for fucks sake, it's about having appropriate product for your riding, and V's suit the majority of MTB'ers.

But then again, I've got some fairly traditionalist views when it comes to some things.

i couldnt agree more, i like chromo it lasts forever, is wicked strong, so what if its a bit heavy, gotta love chromo my bro has a wicked old chromo xc bike and i reackon it is one of the smoothest bikes i have ridden, it is so solid...
well thats my 2 cents worth
*edit* retarded spelling
Well Rik certanly knows whats he is talking about! Care to share your thoughts on the Alum V.S. Cromo subject?
I do? that's a worry, you actually beleive that!
Poor deluded souls...
I dunno, I love the ride a cromo bike gives, plus its durability is mighty impressive too. Alu definately has its place in the bike world, but it's almost disposable, use it for a few years then get a new frame. I'd rather people buy a nice cromo frame, and have it last a lifetime.
But, that can't happen, because then no new bikes would get sold.
discs are all about modulation....:P
and im too accusmtomed to wanky discs, i love em and will always run them, and yes ryan u are fucked in the head :P

once you ride disc for a bit, say cable disc's, you will find they are even simpler to setup/maintain, have more power, more modulation, and don't go to shit when they go through a puddle.
So basically sure they may help build people's ego's or whaterver, but the fact remains they are just better. That's the answer to your question.
Man I was thinking the exact same thing a couple of days ago :D and i got a Hardrock as well, (not as beefed up as yours). The vee's hold up fine to the riding I do, there light and easily maintained. If i was to upgrade to discs it would cost me a tonne of money id have to get new wheelsets (just b ecause my rims arent worth getting relaced to). Yeh i got plenty of power from my Vee's id have even more if rims were true (cause then i could set em up right)
VEE PRIDE :D:D

Thing I like about disks is the way I can smash my rims into all sorts of ugly shapes and my brakes still work.

I like how on disc brakes the pads get contaminated after a few months forceing you to either ride with useless brakes, spend hours hopelessly trying to un-contaminate them or spend $50-100 on a new set of pads.
Hey wait a min.. I don't like that.
