you cant really go wrong with either of those forks. both work really well but i'd be leaning towards the fox 40's. i think the 888's are easier on the wallet if thats a concern.

40's are stock on the Glorys so I think they may be easier on the wallet. :p
Any chance you know of someone with either of the forks so you can try them out?
both great forks
however id be leaning towards the 40 especially that it comes stock on the bike,
IMO slightly better performance then the 888

Yeah i Know they come stock on the glory , can swap for 888wc at my lbs.
But i have heard that there were some problems with the fox 40's , so it's got me thinking 888wc might be the go but not to sure.
Any help on these forks would be great .

i have ridden both,
the 888 will last longer (because of the full open bath damping) than the 40 and feel better for longer
the 888 wc are noticably lighter than the old RC2X's and smoother
(although the 40 is still lighter i think)
go the 888 WC

i would go the 888 as two of my friends have had rebound trouble with both 06 and 07 fox 40's. both had to miss races.i have the 06 rc2x 888 and they are great. i have never used 888 world cups but they are supposed to be better!!

Id go with the 888 Wc's because they are lighter, 2.9kg compared to the 40 which weigh in at 3.2kg. They feel a lot smoother and they are the plushest forks around however the 40 is more progressive as well as more expensive. On top of that one of my mates has had problems with his 40s.

I run 40s and wouldn't bother changing,but if I was in your shoes,I'd concider the 888s.
Here's your choices
Lighter=40s,and they'll perform as good as 888s.
Reliable=888s,you won't need to send them off for a leaking cartridge like you may the 40s(probablly not for over a year or more anyway with the 40s).
Id go with the 888 Wc's because they are lighter, 2.9kg compared to the 40 which weigh in at 3.2kg.
Not sure where you pulled those weights from, but they are wrong.
888VA = 3380g
888WC = 3150g
40RC2 = 3120g
888SL = 2950g
BOXWC = 2767g

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....
I'd say get the 888's.
Can't beat the feeling. Plush adjustability, and in the WC's case light!!!!

I have had 40's before, they were very good, currently got 888 WC, I prefer the 888's.
my view
so easy to service, feel smoother, spring has greater weight range capability than stock ti fox, let me clarify, I weigh 92kg, i could bottom the 40's relatively easy with the stock to spring and to change to a stiffer spring basically meant steel/heavier, so far with the stock 888 wc, i am using both compression settings virtually at the softest settings, they aren't diving like previous 888's, they feel sensitive to small bumps and i don't bottom them on bigger hit's, maybe i just ride smoother these days, maybe even slower(doh!!!)
